Everyone gone!

So I was told the world would end today, and the day previous all of g.e would be laid off. This forum is a joke

GE is not too big to fail. It may be a multi billion $ company the cash cows are now gone and signing a 25 year contract with countries who refuse to pay on time or defer payments because of perceived contract breaches will soon wittle that away. Just like when it lost its AAA credit rating and the share went from $60 to $7 to $31 to $24 no thought that would be possible. The share price will sub $20 because the rot has already set in.

Prefix has added how much to the bottom line? It will miss its revenue targets because the leadership are to old and don't have foresight to deliver it and they are ultimately the decision makers. Market no longer trusts them and their are better companies to invest in.

Everyone I interact with at work is worried about the imminent layoffs that have been announced. It is increasingly difficult to get cooperation from other teams because of the head down, self preservation mentality. And even people on our team are looking over their shoulders constantly now. This will likely lead to even poorer results for Q3, continuing the downward spiral.

It's better to look for a way to fire people instead of paying out expensive severance packages.

It was inevitable that severance packages would be inferior to those offered a few years ago.

Announcement by our new CEO that layoffs are coming but still very few actions. This is torture to make this kind of announcement and not follow up with quick actions. Much kinder to rip off the bandaid and tell employees their fate one way or the other. No one knows if they are safe or not. This is killing morale and productivity. Also, the existing severance package is a joke a sends a strong signal the GE has no respect for its' employees. Kudos to Jim Fowler for offering the VJRB. It was a generous package. What the rest of GE offers is disgraceful!

I think the guy who calculated the world would end on the 23rd forgot to carry the 2.

The fact is GE will be here for a very long time. However, even if it only lays off 20% of the employees, it is a huge number and for the people who are affected is a huge pain and who need a way to express the pain. It is not a joke and showing some sympathy is generally a good thing. Most of the people being laid off are good, honest, intelligent and hard-working folks.
