Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

What's the whole scoop on accounting?

I'm reading all these posts, and want info. Our accounting people are vacation, and out sick. So I'm wondering what they're coming back to. Is this company wide like audit? They all get their hours cut or gone completely? This is at every club?

I made this post, and I am an associate. Turns out our club is not affected by this YET. Which is why we didn't know any info. Our area is not receiving the machine yet, so our accounting area is safe at the moment. But they were told it is coming. So, no I was not just trying to be nosey. We didn't have info because there was nothing happening. But it's expected in the near future. Thank you to everyone who filled us in!

If we decide to take severance package in December does that mean we don't receive the Sam's share?

You’re not getting a heads up. What company is going to say hey guys next month around the middle of the month we are going to go head and displace you and then give you 60 days to find another position in the company. Get real. None.

Actually I already had my job eliminated. I was an audit associate We were completely blindsided so how was it possible for me to have a backup plan? It would gave been great to have some idea what was coming. Also, I consider my fellow associates as family as I have worked with some of the people being affected for over 20 years.

“Man up”. Get real. Have a back up plan. Stop feeding into rumors. Doesn’t sound like you are the accounting associate that going through this. Instead you just want the scoop. If you want the scoop you will get it if your friends with the accounting associate. But you are probably one that just perpetuates the rumors in the club.

What difference does it make if you are a sam's associate or not? As an associate why should I protect the reputation of a company that can't be upfront and honest with its associates about job cute? No one has any clue about what direction the company is taking because there is not one word from corporate. As an associate I have to rely on websites like this for info even if it is rumors since the company won't man up and let associates know if they will be out of a job.

You do know half the people on here are not Sam’s Associates. Just people fishing for info... associates would have been called if they cannot be in the club physically.

Getting rid of full timer in accounting. Calls for 2 part timers. One at 16 hrs the other at 12 hrs per week. Full time has until December 1st to find another position inside club, transfer to Walmart or take severance pkg. If they take the severance pkg they have to work up until December 1st or be on a LOA from my understanding. I'm one of those being cut.. It s---s that you still have to train on the machine that is taking your job and the train the new associates on it.
