Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

This is long overdue

This is long overdue. The vast majority of managers at Pepsi hired people merely so that they could justify their own jobs. What the higher levels of management did is still a mystery. One revelation for certain is that management existed merely to call meetings, which hobbled the efforts of anyone trying to do any real work. An otherwise productive day would be choked with meaningless meetings, all of which turned out to have all the serious impact of asking "Well, Bobby, what did you do in school today?" Occasionally it was entertaining to watch managers ask their employees what they were working on, both because they were so out of touch and because they needed to tell their higher-ups what they were "inspiring" their people to do. At Pepsi, people became managers and directors because they had no other skill or ability but to waddle the hallways and try to look important.

Bumping from @Pr77GVz-1ynt. Agree with everything said.

Quote "At Pepsi, people became managers and directors because they had no other skill or ability but to waddle the hallways and try to look important." Truer words were never spoken. I've observed about 20% effective managers and many, many waddlers. It almost seems that if someone is an underperformer but socializes with management, they get promoted. Very discouraging to those of us that actually care about what happens with the company.

There are a lot of "waddlers" here in Plano
