What about the Advantage Coordinator position @ Sam's Club? Going away like Team Lead?

Trust me so will take my family and friends with me when I go, does it matter that all if this will get out and people will not shop at Sam's or Wal-Mart guess to sink is what Wal-Mart will be doing. Like a lot of big Cotp.we can crash and burn with this sh--.You think mgrs are gonna get out and work well just wait and see. One pissed off emoloyee

I'm a Membership coordinator and our club really struggles we are a very small community next couple of towns are 1 1/2 hrs away to 3 different towns it really doesn't benefit our club to keep our positions in big cities I'm sure it does

The membership team is the face of the community. It is more then just membership sign up. You need a marketing team to get the word out to the community in a PERSONAL way.

Social Media is important also but it is only a piece of the puzzle. Take a computer to an event and play a power point presentation. See how many people watch the screen and how many people want to talk to a real person. A real person wins every time!

The smaller the town your in the more important it is to have a living human being out bonding your business to the community. Sam's Club is not Wal-Mart. They are making a big mistake if they think they can drive it exactly the same way.

What they really need to do is give their marketing team better sign up deals so they can give customers more of a reason to sign up on the spot!

Fyi...you aren't free either. Groupon, Facebook, direct mail, radio reaches thousands more people than you ever could.

I think they will keep a part timer in marketing. To do some canvasing.

Relationships and shopping habits are built in store as well.

FYI,social media doesn't come free. Do you understand about the necessity of building relationships with your members? It's not always about the membership sale,but the members shopping habits also.

Sounds to me you have know idea about Sam's at all.

Maybe you should look at Costco stock compared to Wal-Mart. I never said I hated the company I work for,but find it difficult to be loyal.

Regarding value of marketing team. Paid $25k plus per year not to mention benefits/insurance. That's a lot of memberships you have to sell for Sam's to make a profit. Social media is a much better value and it's what is driving the retail industry. Not the door to door encyclopedia salesman.

Regarding whatever Costco is doing. Just because Costco is supposedly hiring more marketing members doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. May be Sam's is ahead of the curve this time.?! How does anyone who doesnt work for costco know what jobs they are hiring for? And since you know so much about Costco maybe you should apply there.

I hate when people talk so badly about the company they are working for and tries to compare it to a company they aren't working for.

Yes these changes s--- for those of us losing their jobs. But it's business not personal. Adapt to a new position or move on.

Costco employees are crying tears of joy because they have great bonuses and pay rate. Costco was rated the highest paying company in the retail sector.

Groupon and any third party membership company has to be paid also. Sam's only gets $25 or so from any Groupon membership,not counting the loss of free product.

It's funny that Costco is adding more employees to their membership department. Why can Costco pay so well and achieve such a cult like following?

Costco doesn't have knee jerk reactions and take care of their employees.

It's time that Sam's Club opens its eyes and gets rid of the executives that have huge salaries and fly around in costly jet planes.

All of these long term associates deserve better.

look everyone that has been or will be effected can defend their job saying how much it’s needed. but the truth is no it’s not. membership will be 3rd party and digital. much like it already is. blitzed and canvassing businesses is just tacky always has been. acct is going 90% automated. audit has other associates that can do it. ptc will have mgrs do it and 3 rd party does payroll. don’t need someone to hand out 2-3 checks twice a month. mgrs will have their hands full but it’s all about the money they see as saved. time will tell however i think in 2 yrs some of these jobs will come back but at low pay and pt. they will have accomplished the housecleaning process

Sam's is shooting itself in the foot. The membership office is always out selling memberships which are all profit for the Club. Without the Membership coordinator and Team Lead there will be no Sold in Field events and the membership numbers will drop.

If it's all about profit, they will soon find out just how much we brought in.

Thought this was a good company that cared about employees and the members. WRONG!

Won't set foot in a Sam's or WalMart ever again when my job is gone...nor will my friends and family.

it’s more probable the membership mgr and TL will be eliminated so of course the adv will go. many clubs never replaced cord as they left. really no need for one. sorry but true. effective february if not sooner. best to have a back up plan ready

Like the accounting team lead? That’s a whole separate dept. there hasn’t been any elimination on membership team lead as of yet.
