Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Taking an early retirement could save somebody else's job

If someone was planning on retiring soon this early retirement offer could save someone else job for now. If someone gets paid for another year to retire early. That’s a nice kiss goodbye. From what my vp says, “2018 is going to be rough.” I expect a round of layoffs in Nov 2017 then again in March 2018. (My speculation) Hard to tell after that.

So much this, @PtsfUVK-3cre. If you were already considering retiring, please think about taking this option. It could save somebody who has decades to go before the option their job.

Are we speaking about HAH in general with the 50% reduction. Or across the entire company?

Correct. I have heard as high as 50% workforce reduction before 2018. No way people should be told they are safe until final cuts are determined and announced.

So that would mean that people being told they are safe are being misled? Because they don’t know who is safe and who isn’t yet, it would seem.

Below poster, what role are you in that they are telling you is safe, or do you mean all of hah?

I’m a phc and have not been told this. Nothing about job security has been communicated to our team.

I was told we were safe. I was told it is depts. that are over budgeted are those that are getting layoffs. How do depts. get over budgeted? Also Why is the president of the company still using the company jet to go back and forth to home on company dime? Is he in Connecticut? He never planned on moving to Louisville or similar. What a kick in the face to the rest of us. The elitists continue with their bad behavior. Aetna just paid off their debt to Humana giving the board of directors some 900 million dollars they split up and now are telling us we are being offered a severance if we want it. Voluntary they say. You know what is next after that. This fiasco , playing with people's lives. Offering employment and hope and shoving us out the door while their pockets are bulging. Health insurance is mandatory. There should be NO profit for something that is government mandated.

Retirement package was lame; you would have to be working here 15 years or more to get a healthy enough severance to make leaving affordable and worth it. Not sure what help it will be to the rest of us.

I don't expect half of the HAH employees to make it into the new year. Monitored status is the end for most of us.

I'm sure whoever can afford to take early retirement will take the offer . We all know that outlook for 2018 is not good .
