Recently an Oracle SVP, Initials SM vanished from Oracle Cloud Managed Services. Much like another level M8 departure, the disappearing act signals more layoffs. The "no human's needed" philosophy is pervasive. Its not just marketing hype. The executives really believe they don't need people running the cloud. Bare metal cloud guys are jumping ship. Enterprise cloud architects and sales people with a high base salary are to be let go in short order. You can't lead the market with an autonomous cloud, unless you show the world how you do it internally.
Take note, when the high level managers jump ship its because they know something you don't.

The product, which should speak for itself, runs in a fully automated fashion. That means it’s self-tuning and self-provisioning. As Ellison put it after comparing the new tool to auto-pilot on his private plane (something I’m sure everyone can relate to), “There is no pilot error anymore because there is no pilot. All of the database administrations is fully automated,” he told the keynote audience.
We all know how this will shake out. But you wont be around to see it. More SVPs and high level managers will be rolling off after open world. Layoffs will soon follow. For the most part, those working in sales and support, your services are no longer required.
