Macy's out of touch ...I'm speaking out!!!!

Macy's is out of touch with the truth and no one wants to listen. I have been working in for Macy's for a long time as an executive, and have witnessed the raise and fall of the company. Let's review People,Product, Presentacion and Process. people........ First of all I would like to recognized all the great Associates and Management that work hard and set the example for others to follow. "THANK YOU." Lazy Associate and Management don't stretched your head high and take this acknowledgement and think you are one of them ,like you take credit for it during our visit,rallies,management meetings . Great employee's You need to have you voice herd or we will see more layoff. Let's start off My Schedule was a huge mistake . I know you think I'm beating a dead horse. "SOMEONE UP THERE LIKES IT. STORE MANAGERS HATE IT THEY WILL NEVER TELL YOU ,BECAUSE YOU WILL BLAME THEM FOR ALL ISSUE...WAKE UP IT'S BROKEN FIX IT FAST!!!!" . Most associates love it !!! they are gone on most busy days they know how to manipulate the system. This only makes the customer upset and Management fraustrated.How can you drive business and, customer service in your department with a new associate each day, who is overwhelmed , can't offer product knowledge and is silent and, then you have a lazy associate who knows how to works the system....just a warm body in the dept. Talk about getting our customer's upset. "WOW" Here is the perfect person to greet and service them . MY Store Managers, Sales Managers and Human resources know who they are . GUESS WHAT... THEY RATHER COVER IT UP AND ACT LIKE THEY ARE WORKING ON IT. WHEN IN REALITY THEY NEED A WARM BODY TO COVER THE STORE OR THEY DON'T WANT THE ADDED WORK TO START THE PROCESS...REMEMBER EVERYONE NEEDS TO GET TOGETHER AND AGREE ON THE SOLUTION..NOT ENOUGH TIME IN THE DAY. Cheap Labor, lazy associates, untrained team and no staff is going to cause you problems in the long run. CEO, upper management, staffer, Store Manager take the challenge and walk into a busy store and run a one man show for a full day .....not a few transactions don't make the excuse you don't know how to use the register .If you care about Macy's take the time to take the register training and work the floor...You are so out of touch with reality.Good luck with the old POS system, remembering the multiplier promotions,keep fitting room clean,go backs, recovery ,Smile give great service,offer credit...overcome 3 objectives even ,if the customer is ready to let you have it ,because you are a stupid employee that at the second request should of understood. "BRING DOWN THE GREEDY INTEREST RATES AND WORK ON BETTER EMPLOYEE AND CUSTOMER LOYALTY PROGRAM. "On your lunch dream about the 10 cents raise I will have to give to my associate during their yearly review for working so hard" "Heads up most associates and Management don't know or care about fashion. Take unannounced store visit , because when we have visits associates are told to dress up...Guess what most of the time Associate and Management are a fashion mess. Give more training and set standards. " DON'T SCHEDULE BIG VISITS.....PEOPLE ON THE TOP YOU NEED TO COME IN UNANNOUNCED TO THE STORES ,SO YOU CAN REALLY SEE WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE. YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE HOW MANY CUSTOMERS ARE UNACKNOWLEDGED ON THE FLOOR DUE TO YOUR BIG VISITS. THE STORE IS OUTSIDE DOWN . MTM'S AND TEAM IGNORING CUSTOMER MESS ALL AROUND THEM. WE ARE RUNNING AROUND LIKE A CHICKEN WITHOUT A HEAD. NOT ENOUGH STAFF ,IF STAFFED THE GOOD ONE GIVE UP THEIR SCHEDULE THEY HAVE ,HAD IT CLEANING UP FOR OTHERS AND NOT BEING APPRECIATED OR ACKNOWLEDGE DURING VISITS.WHEN WE HAD DMS AND DP'S THEY SAW THIS ...AND DIDN'T CARE UNTILL THE VISIT."WOW"DO THEY KNOW HOW TO PERFORM IN FRONT OF YOU .SINCE OF URGENCY TO GIVE MAGIC CARDS ALL...FAKE!! GAME OF ALL GAMES THEY SMOOTH TALK ABOUT GOOD BUSINESS AND DISTRACTED YOU ON BAD ONES. TALK ABOUT A PLAN OF ACTION.THEY NEVER HAD TIME FOR US. THEY WOULD COME IN DAYS BEFORE A BIG VIST AND BE VERY NICE AND CONCERN ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS AND TEAM. ALSO THEY WOULD DO QUICK CTC AND PLAN EVENTS REVIEW TOP AND BOTTOM PERFORMANCE. THEY WERE READY TO PERFORM FOR YOU CEO!!! WOULD QUIZ US AND TEAM OF WHAT IS WORKING AND NOT AND ADVICE US NOT TO MENTION THE NEGATIVE. MEANWHILE WE ALL ARE WHISPERING WHEN WILL THIS ISSUE BE FIX. ALSO, ON THEIR NEXT STORE VISIT IF YOU ARE PART OF THIER CLICK AND YOU HAD GOOD BUSSINESS THEY SPEND TIME WITH YOU ,IF NOT ON THE LIST YOUR STORE MANAGER WOULD INFORM YOU ON HOW DISAPPOINTED THE DM WAS.MANY OF US WERE SO UPSET, BUT WE KNEW IF THE STORE MANAGER DIDN'T REDIRECT THE DM TELL US THEY ALSO, DIDN'T CARE" ITS SAD THAT WE LOST TRUE PEOPLE WHEN THESE DM'S and DPS WERE HAND PICKED AND PUT IN SAFE JOBS TO PREVENT LAYOFF FOR THEM . TALK ABOUT HAVING CONNENTIONS..GUESS WHAT ...WE LOST PROFESSIONAL ,HARD WORKING AND DEDICATED VERY SEASON SALES MANAGEMENT that care about Macy's.they had good scorecard ,team player AND ARE TRULY MISSED BY US AND THE STORE EMPLOYEES. TWO LOST SALES SUPERVISOR FOR THE PRICE OF ONE MANAGER...bring them back they made a huge difference. "Believe it or not, still not finish with the people part . This is a funny, yet sad, post. It is filled with TRUTH, if investors knew all this reality, our stock would deteriorate further. My stock options from years ago are so worthless... I made a mistake by not cashing out during our peak! The poster mentioning all the prep for visits because they’re in a major market. Could be my market because that is my reality. Painting over water leaks?! I thought that was just my store! How can’t that even be a solution? In fairness I have never shared this with my RDOS, but she must know, right?

If managers didn’t recover their areas the stores would implode. Thats all they have time,to do any more is recover and ring a register because there’s not enough people to keep a customer from getting mad at the lines. Stores are dirty and like the OP said, everything gets fixed before the district people show up, and then a few days later it’s all gone to sh&t again. Have you seen the customer decline too and what they do to the bathrooms and change rooms. What their kids do, dropping drinks and food and running around the store handling and touching everything with sticky fingers? And the returns......awful! All the online crap that comes back and all the work it takes to ship it back to where it can be sold again.....I don’t know.....I think we are done for within a few years.

My Schedule, This system will auto approve every associate in your department to take PTO at the same time. And the SM is supposed to coach and manage this !

Our point system is counter productive:....."I tride to get my shift covered and didnt, I have 90 points so I just will not be in on Saturday"

I'm in a market with several "key " stores that get regional and corporate visits constantly.

we spend weeks and countless hours sending managers from everywhere to fake these stores out, With directives set to perfection. while the other 8 stores in the district are suffering, because the hours came from our home store budget and we have to cut our own hours following the visit.

Upper mgnt has never seen a "real operating store" with clearance dress shirts tossed in those horrible cubes during a ODS , or what last act really looks like !

The visit itself is a joke. As the group is paraded threw the store in 20 minutes and spends the remaining time in the conference room Where the VPDM and all tow the line and never say "Pre Sale, during a ODS, men's event and great shoe sale and you mailed out 30% coupon is simply ridiculous" and by the way our customers are tired of the Pre sale!! Or look at the 10 leaks that we painted over before you came today.

The buyers need to leave NYC and visit a none top 125 store and look at the broken selection and collection that most stores are given. See that Young Men do not dress like American Rag suggests and that all men and women are not skinny

Couldn't be more spot on OP, keep telling the truth. Yelled at all by not only customers but VPSM that not doing enough.....I miss my old friends and SMs they were dedicated and let go. This mess of young management you have will only hurt you in the end. I am caught up in this situation currently. Executive team that is young inexpierenced and drama filled.

Different executive here and the op is spot on. MOST SMs are with the associates on so many levels, we are all frustrated with the workload we are expected to get complete. We feel like we are doing too much recovery instead of coaching and developing our associates into SELLING associates. Long hours that go unnoticed
