You can only apply after severance is done, since it's still income from the job

Apply for unemployment in the state you live in. It is best to wait until a week or two before severance runs out to apply.

They should have been paying into FL UI insurance out of your check. Check your paystub

Many corporations have a headquarters and offices all over the country. You don't collect only if you live in the headquarters state. Did you give the St. Pete address? Someone is not telling you the truth.

But you pay your unemployment taxes to whatever state you live in. They have you WRONG info.
