Anyone know the context to the rumor that keeps popping up regarding GE and HP? Was a question in the DT all hands that didn't get addressed

All CoreTech services are going to outsourced to HPE, Compucom, Computacenter next 6 to 12 months... Many top level discussions already progressed, many IT guys contracts at businesses moved to Corporate / Digital legal entities in Europe, next step is to reduce many UK based HQ overhead...Capital IT recently cleaned up silently but next move will be a big one...
The reason cited for Apple going away is for supportability issues -- I don't know how much of that is the hardware, software, or those idiotic EB+ VIP-users that request Macs just for vanity and being down-right mean to deskside that are on call 24-7 to wipe their arses. Probably a combination of all 3. While the third one will still manifest in Windows machines, at least the hardware and software are common to peons' and make deskside's life easier.
As for Predix and the Apple partnership, the whole thing is because the customers want to by-pass us in managing their fleets -- when we give them our software, we optimize our own service productivity in-addition, and most of the time over, customer's benefit in performance and cost. This is why Exelon, a huge industrial customer, demanded that they have the ability to build their own apps.
When our customers can get software development support in house and from Apple, why do GE engineers need Apple machines to support them? Personally, I think this deal will hurt us in long term revenue and profit, but fortunately we have not generated any and probably never will with our approach so it's a wash.
I doubt Apple is going away, especially with the newly touted arrangement with Apple. (You know, that whole Predix in the AppStore...)
But, I believe, the question in the Digital AH was more in reference to HP's IT outsourcing capability. I highly doubt that as HP did have a contract with Aviation years ago, got booted for another lower cost provider, and that provider got booted for even lower cost Tech Mahindra.
rumors
That both s---?
I have heard rumor from deskside that Apple and Dell are going away from our PC catalog so that practically will leave HP as sole provider. I am not sure that's related to the HP question in Digital AH.
