It's fairly fast: VPs and SG&A will get notice within days of closure, although some people (sales) may have as much as 18months before hitting the door. Company will get reorganized along BUs, and unwanted BUs will be sold or closed down by 3 months, 6 months at the outside.
It's more like blood letting or the black death than nuclear war. Expect years of misery, constantly declining morale and general pain and suffering before your head finally rolls in the guillotine. It should suit people well who are into SM, if you get my drift.
