Yep......same hrs as last year for Sears....I worked the overnights in the 2 years prior to that when the store was open straight through from Thanksgiving night through Black Friday....and store was dead of customers from 1am til 4am.....Regional management would stop by and walk through in street clothes in middle of night to see the lack of customers overnight....so the Midnight closing and 5am reopening was actually a smart thing to do.....as store associates were struggling to stay awake.....Not enough associates so many had only a 5 or 6 hour rest between the 10 to 12 hour overnight shift...and then coming back in for a 12 hour closing shift Black Fri.
I have a feeling that this may be one of the last if not the last Holiday Seasons for the brick and mortar store business side of Sears.

Have you gone out shopping on Thanksgiving Day over the last couple of years? If you were working in the stores probably not, but trust me there are plenty of customers out there who have made a tradition of now going shopping on Thanksgiving Day. Not everyone wants to sit at home after eating too much.
The Kmart I use to work at is doing the 6 am thanksgiving to 10pm black Friday. I don't think they get it. Those 40 plus hour marathons don't work. I'm glad I have thanksgiving OFF this year.

I could understand this if it actually brought in customers, but it doesn’t. Most customers feel that being open on Thanksgiving has ruined the thrill of Black Friday. I agree. Used to love working Black Friday.
My Kmart is open from 6am Thursday thur to 10pm Friday night.
Isn't JCP opening at 2pm on Thanksgiving Day. While it isn't great for anyone to be open on Thanksgiving Day at least we aren't opening at 2pm.
Expect things to be slow on both days because boy were pretty bare last year.
