Judging by quarterly results, this is expected. Verizon extracts too much from employees, and since employee engagement is at a all time low, results follow suit.

It's 100% confirmed for wireline engineering in the northeast. 18 people under my director to be let go, 16 first lvl and 2 second levels, info was relayed to us from our dir.

I volunteered for a severance package if one was available and was told my last day would be 11/16. I don't have the details of it yet, but when I last talked to my manager who works out of state, he said that travel plans were being arranged to be in my office next week.
Retail needs a complete overhaul. Directors , DMs, GMs, SMs SS. I don’t want to see anyone lose their jobs but the truth is Wireless would be better off closing most of these stores and turning them over to indirect. The managers are like battered children cowering to their DMs and Directors. They have no regard for the consumer and promote shady sales practices. And for what? Quotas are too high to make a check anyway.
How about some of the useless Directors in Retail...Just look at a few that have been moved from Indirect to Retail because they had no business sense and we exposed too much...moved to Retail to be a cheer leader because they have no business knowledge....Cut these idiots and save some front line jobs!
It's very easy to lay off a GM if you close their store. Which is what has been happening, quietly, at smaller, neglected, lower performing stores. They'll lay off the management and try to put the reps in other openings in the district but it's a very easy way to cut management positions if they do that in strategic locations nationwide. They'll have them work through q4 then in q1 the location will reopen overnight as an indirect retailer with the customers none the wiser. It's already been happening.
It's about survival. How many layoffs can one dodge?? If I survive this one, I'll have to worry about the next one. What a toxic environment.

I’m sure there will be layoffs on 11/16. I’m also sure this will not include the GM’s and doubt it will include any SM’s either. Stop the nonsense.
Believe it or not, but please don't try to sell the possibility that there will be no layoffs, then supprise, suprise like what happened to our team members twice recently. The "chatter" was real. And "managers" had to sit these employees who were part of our stores family and robotically deliver the news that they're done. Just like that. True leadership!
There will be layoffs 11/16. Don't continue to lie to protect the company.
