Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Latoffs confirmed by leadership before fiscal year end

It was confirmed today rather openly in the finance quarterly meeting. The scope is unknown. Anywhere where process automation is being leveraged... merchandising, logistics, transportation, shared services, etc. Is my guess

In our area they chose to layoff some women who had husbands with good jobs, and save guys who were the primary breadwinner for their family. It's too bad since the women were really good.

@cty that is nice of you but chances are they wont replace you. The trend is not to backfill empty positions so your teammates will have to absorb all your tasks with no raise or promotion

I think a voluntary R IF would be perfect. I have 26 years, was demoted twice due to job role "restructuring" would be nice to get a severance.

I wish they’d do a voluntary RIF first. If they offered severance to anyone willing to accept it, I’d take it, especially if it helped keep a job for someone who still wants to work here.

We get told not to talk about it. As if that is realistic. People are going to want to know if their livelihoods are in danger.

Yep, heard the same thing. Funny though, one of our VPs tells us to be excited. How stupid do they think we are? They are always talking from both sides of their mouths.

No specific mention, but I would assume they are going to eliminate any job that could be automated.
