@3nvh Exactly you know I think thats one of the reasons our sales have reduced now since JCP has entered the appliances territory. JCP CEO honestly wants the company to flourish. Yet Sears hasnt tried to work anything out. Instead we got rid of electronics for starters they could of banked entering the wireless arena, but Sears instead got rid of electronics making it look like a joke if they have anything left.

Jcpenney is not dying. Their ceo has the smarts and retail vision for the future. He has retail experience to back it up. He may have closed a bunch of stores this year. He at least comes into the stores and talks to people about is working and doesn't work. At least the man in charge has a vision. Eddie doesn't other than blowout sales and strip mining the company until it's time to pull the plug. Eddie shouts through his feeds at corparate without ever stepping foot in the real world of retail and it shows.

LOL I was with them for five and a half years BEFORE Sears, through the period where they themselves were doing horribly and on the brink, thanks to that CEO (or whatever he was) making really stupid choices for a year until they booted him out. He hurt Penney's and still walked away with millions in his pocket, while many of us little people in the stores walked away jobless. I wish them well, but I won't be returning. Nor can I imagine they're doing spectacularly either.

@gia - At least for those careers people know what they're getting into and know their work is vital year round. Retail didn't used to be open on most holidays like this. It is not vital for it to be open... but hey, WE gotta make those dollars for the company so that the people at the top can sit home and enjoy... :(

Same way with the health field and any public worker (ie policeman, fireman, etc). They all work the holidays too. Same with the hospitality industry. All work the holidays.

Get out of retail if you have a chance thats what i am looking for, i havent been with my family during thanksgiving for MANY years, and the other holidays either, retailers don't care about the worker's they care about money, sales, profits, of you can get out and stay out

I'd stay away from JC Penney for work. Why get involved with another dying company?
