Lets just say i ran into a few options for work and im at an intersection. Do I leave my high paying job here at CB&I and downgrade pay by 30% or put my money on PM is going to turn this around. What happens to CB&I in 2018? Predictions?

But 30%? Is the house really on fire?
Do not wait around. I thought after the Cap Svcs sale there would be shifting around of people and opportunities opening up, but we all know what happened then. Promises but no delivery. It has been a horrid year in TW office. Miserable. The higher level people who are there because they have no other opportunities elsewhere, who would hire a management level person who ran a company into the ground. All the smart ones left years ago. Go if you can is my advice.
They'll be sold by Dec.31, or bankrupt by end of May, 2018.
Cb&i being sold as we speak. Broken up into pieces and auctioned to highest bidder, secretively of course😑
Cutting more low paid people in woodlands and Houston but power from Charlotte playing golf and gamblin on co time and money while sayin they be at a convention! Peeps cbi is playin games with yo head- ain’t gonna be no jobs in 5 6 months PM don’t give a $h t you stay or go he kerpin his millions and laughin all way to bank.
Its true its only about the green nothing else dont quit yourself you still get 1 week pay for every year worked up to 9 weeks something like that
Bigger changes coming . PM and board will do whatever makes them the most money. You don't matter. Youre a tool to make money. They don't like or love or respect you. This is not their family. You are not their family. Most execs really don't even like each other. Cbi is not being saved to make it a better place for you to work. But Cbi will still be around for awhile so you will still have a job for awhile. But don't put your faith in the old white men at the top. They didnt make their millions thinking about you. And they aren't thinking about you now.
"(2) What are the chances of CB&I hiring a replacement worker at a lower salary."
If you work in a plant targeted for closing or live in a swamp that's being drained (ahem "corporate") get out asap.
To @QEIF8Sw-1rvv, I've never seen love and respect included in my offer letter or on my pay stub. we all know cbi s---s right now. I wouldn't be weighing a 30% pay cut if it didn't. But I'm not going to hurt my long term career path out of principle. It's an economic decision either way. I need better information from the wisdom of the crowd not condescension. Doesn't mean I will stay with cbi if it keeps s---ing. Why don't you set a good example for the rest of us and publicly quit tomorrow with no new job. Take 100% pay cut. Take no severance. Then come back and spew your moral indignation.
I believe we need to just hang tight for a while and see what happens.
I know I would not want to take a 30% decrease in pay.
Let's give PM a chance to turn it around and drain the swamp just like
Trump is doing for our country. This is much needed. Prayers for Everyone on here as well as
CB&I. We all need prayers.

"So...take the pay cut?"
I suggest you take a well deliberated path. You need the following facts at minimum to help your decision:
(1) What are the near term financial prospects CB&I has? Are there any imminent projects you can count on.
(2) What are the chances of CB&I hiring a replacement worker at a lower salary.
Pop goes the wezel! Do you like working for a company that does not care about you? That is the question. Seems like all anybody cares about anymore is money. It is a sad world we live in these days.
How the f--- do I know? Grow some testic--sand make a decision! You gonna make life choices based on advice from anonymous strangers who delight in throwing stones at CB&I? What, are you stupid?
So...take the pay cut?
“Most people won't be laid off so odds are you won't be laid off”
That is straight from CB&I manager’s playbook. Regardless, the very essence needed to sustain a business, booked projects, is no longer there with CB&I. No projects and no work, obviously result in layoffs.
Most people won't be laid off so odds are you won't be laid off. Don't sell yourself short by taking a 30% pay cut.
It depends on where your other opportunities are. If you are in E&C, then of course CB&I currently has nothing other than Total Project Projects like RGLNG, MZLNG, GCA, etc. are just vapor projects with no tangible NTP date. Getting the hell out of CB&I at your earliest opportunity to stable grounds is your best option.
I agree if you can hold off for another week, wait and see what the announcement is. Also, if your offer is within the same industry, you’re probably not adding much security by switching companies.
We are days away from an announcement about the future of cbi
Hang tight for a bit more and will have more clarity
