Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

No additional layoffs planned right now

There are no additional layoffs planned right now. Any terminations will be based on individual performance-related circumstances and not financially driven.

Any chance this is true? I could use some time to relax and enjoy the holidays, so this being true would be perfect. It does sound a bit too good to be true, though.

No, do not listen to the fear-mongering. There is no conspiracy to lay people off and disguise it as performance issues. Do you realize how stupid that is? We could do that maybe for 1 or 2 employees before an obvious pattern began to emerge and earns us regulatory scrutiny. Why would we risk that sort of legal exposure to save on severance packages? If we don't want to offer severance we'll just not offer severance; that's completely our choice and just what we do to take care of our employees. And for the record, we often still pay severance to people even when we fire them for performance-based reasons. People are coming here and telling you likes, plain and simple.

There will be no systematic firing of employees anytime in the near future. No bogus performance firings either. I am in a position to know and would give it to you straight if that weren't the case. If you are being fired for performance issues, you will see it coming from a long way away.

Layoffs are expensive to the company due to the severance involved.

So the new tactic being used is performance based cuts which will not include a severance. Managers have been asked to rate a xertain percentage of folks as underperforming.

So there will be people being shown the door, but it won't count as a layoff. It's all about the semantics.

How many people have been given advance notice and still working. Several employees were given notice three months ago that they are out of a job on a certain date...Like February or March. Clearly these are NOT performance related are very clearly financial related. This is a PR play from Sabre. Please don't drink the red punch. Everything at Sabre is a financial play. If performance was an issue at Sabre so many SVP, VP and former CEO's would have been axed a long time ago.

Do not let your guard off, there will be a lot of performance based firings before Christmas. After Christmas there will be major layoffs.

While there probably aren’t wide layoffs planned there have still been micro adjustments across various teams over the last few months which have resulted in individuals being laid off outside of what you could call “performance based” reasons. This individual who posted originally may have been well intentioned and may legitimately think no layoffs are planned in their portion of the business. The reality is no mid-level executive knows perfectly the happenings in other business units or the groups within the business units. Think about it. Even if they’re an SVP they’re at the mercy of what is shared in leadership meetings and could easily be ignorant to other movement. I know for certain as recently as a week ago specific teams have experienced tiny lay offs.
