Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Unofficial official layoff report 12/10/2017

Looks like there were layoffs in EMEA this past week, some uncertainty around the numbers. I will call it 25. That brings the total number for FY18 to 7,275, and since 6/1/2106 to 17,275. Lots of restricting reserve $ left for FY18.

Happy holidays all!

Hard to call people low performers when a whole group is let go, more likely has something to do with management, including product strategy or lack there of, as well as lack on investment

This has nothing to do with weeding out low performers, entire groups/ departments/ product lines have been laid off

again not to diminish the impact of the layoff on someone who has a mortgage and small kids, but a 5% RIF in a year is not very. especially since some companies do a standard 5-10% RIF annually to weed out the low performers

I did not say the headcount was down by a specific number, the numbers I listed refer to number of people specifically laid off by oracle.

Also, when you say the headcount is down 7,275 this year have you factored in attrition? With 138K employees you will have a 3-4% attrition in any given year which can account for half that number.

Don't mean to sound harsh but with 138K employees, a RIF of 7K employees in a single year is not a big deal unless you were one of the 7K employees affected.
