Real Problem Is GE Power Management

The real problem is GE Power management.

We used to have world class experts that grew up in the business and knew it from bottom up in great depth in areas such as manufacturing, engineering, sales and marketing, and the service business. Most of these business leaders were well known by customers, and knew the customers and their needs well.

Now we have a bunch of self serving six sigma type amateurs with little knowledge and completely isolated from our customers and business needs. They just want to get promoted for being change agents and have made bad change after change that has left the business a mess.

Does anyone have any faith these clowns can fix the business?

Are there enough leaders left with enough knowledge of the business?

This is the big question

There is no excuse for second and third rate inverters that fail and old technology except for bad GE management.

GE used to have the best technology, and managers who knew what they were doing to keep ahead of the technology curve. They used to also make the products they sold instead of farm out to low quality vendors. GE used to be the best at everything they did, because of the people and had the best management.

What you describe in Solar is typical of the turbine business too.

@QGm58Dk-1ecx Solar is growing ANF GE makes Inverters, but customers don't buy from GE because failing rate is very high and technologically outdated. Now mr.smart tell me is this is too market demand BS low?

Its hard to believe that GE management was stupid enough to replace technology experts with six sigma black belts at every level of management. Now power can't make any money

Look what they did to the business

The new six sigma breed managers are distanced from the technology, product, and customers.

This is why they make bad decisions and GE is failing these days

This is why employees are demoralized and customers are unhappy with bad service and being disconnected from expertise they need.

I will never apply for a job with a company that preaches Six Shmegma the way GE does. It's trash and brainwashing. Waste of time!

Power management can't do anything about the decrease in demand. That said, however, senior management (Strazik, Stokes, & Co.) are dangerously distanced from the technology, the product and the customer.

everything comes down to the characters and values of these people. "leader" is just a label. Behind this label, there are real people with all their values, ethics, beliefs.

I think GE is particularly bad in hiring and retaining employees who are good persons. period. very good though in hiring people with a mix of bad values and often bad results (wasn't this the famous 4th category welch was talking about chasing to death?)

There are good leaders in GE, but there are much more bad leaders, the box tickers who attend cretinville learn to speak, act and gamble that's what immelt wanted.

Bad management, no leaders, incompetence at the top, greed, bad decisions, nobody gives a ratsa$$, etc. The net result will be a death spiral to oblivion. Thanks for the lousy memories.
