Thread regarding Chicago Bridge & Iron layoffs

Dumb

If you are here spreading bs about CBI closing, being sold, going bankrupt, or any of the other stupid rumors I have seen, the company is better without you. Yes, some sh--ty decisions by past managers, but we need to do exactly what we are doing - draining the swamp, so to speak.

Relax. Let this sale go through and see what the reorganization holds. PM is not a dumb man, and he damn sure didn’t put the company where it is. If you hate it so bad, quit. Probably best you nowork for a company that’s causing you such turmoil.

Most of the 'rumors' thus far have turned out to be true. More layoffs to come due to reorg. Also bankruptcy another company buying cbi are high probabilities. Dumb or realist? Hope your blind optimism smacks you in the face. Dumb emoji, double eat shi_ emoji

I worked for CB&I for 14 years. Retired a couple of years ago. It was more enjoyable in the early days when CB&I was more of a field-fabricated tank company. I left in about 2012 and when I came back after a couple of years the Shaw purchase had been accomplished. The culture was different and it wasn't as much fun. To the people running down the engineers and project managers, I have to disagree. There were a good number of talented people at CB&I. Most of them worked elsewhere successfully at places like Fluor, Bechtel, KBR, Foster Wheeler before they came to CB&I. What CB&I lacked was the depth of leadership in all departments that you see at Bechtel, Fluor and KBR. Taking on billion dollar mega-projects was apparently too big a leap. in 2001, I was associated with the third largest project ever awarded to CB&I -- $110MM at the time. Fast forward to 2014/2015 and they were booking $6 billion projects. I slightly knew PM. He is extremely smart and a good, decent man. I'm sure that he is doing his best to save the company. A bad estimate and lousy execution is hard to overcome.

Lmao at "PM didn't get us here" oh really? So he didn't sit on his hands and do nothing when he saw gross incompetence in his leaders? Please. PM saw the big payday coming and kept his mouth shut like a good little soldier. He knew he'd make bank, sell the company and come out smelling like white knight to investors. He's gonna ride this horse to the moon.

You are a naive child. It gives me a headache trying to imagine how really stupid you must be unless you are a shill. I just hope that you are capable of learning from your mistakes. And that you don't end up at the same company I do.

Now let's get real, it's bad here in The Woodlands. I miss seeing my counterparts that were let go for stupid reasons or laid-off. Good people lost their jobs and good people jumped ship. The ship is still sinking. Nothing new, no big projects on the horizon, no talks of the future plans other than negative, no transparency, no welders to weld the big holes in this sinking ship. More layoffs to come, either ride it out and quit your b--ching or jump ship.

All good points, PKA. Now, back to counting your millions on the beach before the Colombian government gets you.

What closet is your desk in dumb--s? Why don't you ask one of the hundreds of people who are losing their jobs at xmas? What about the multiple communities across nation affected by failures of this bs company. Noticed a minor decline in stock price lately? BOD fell asleep at the wheel, let Asherman and his crew of idiots run company in the ground, but its ok. Im sure they will all have a great bonus this year. Merry Xmas A--hole!

CB&I's decision to keep its plans for the company hidden from the employees is whay has caused all this anger and anxiety. Its not the handful of execs that make a company succeed. Those guys get rich of the backs of the working man, then act like you're not worthy to be informed of decisions they make. This lack of transparency and holier than thou attitude is what led us to the edge of the cliff. I hope they all jump....

That still doesn’t mean that CBI has to have a culture of intimidation and everyday fear for your job. Plus, incompetent managers that are way over their heads. I was lucky I was laid off back in September and given a severance. I was out of work for almost a month and found a better position with people that care. CBI has to be the worst company that I have ever worked for. I have never seen so many boot lickers clawing to get to the top. Employees that love to taddle like they were children. As far as going bankrupt. Well it doesn’t take a genius to figure out if a company is bleeding money at the rate they are and stock plunges and they sell the most profitable part of the business it’s all over. Stick a fork in them they are done.

Businesses in CBI being sold and shuttered. Not a stretch to see it happening to the whole company. We know bankruptcy was narrowly avoided. Why can't we go bankrupt? We know the business is being carved up and sold to save it. Can the weakened leftover compete with Bechtel? Or will leftovers be sold to save them?

Here here! PM has your best interest as his first and only priority. NO WAY he's going to do ANYTHING that does not leave YOU individually better. He's worked his whole career just to be in a position to help YOU and you alone. This is his moment in history. Same for the board and the rest of execs. They don't want money. They don't even like money. It's YOU they care about. There is NO WAY you won't be better off by what's about to be announced. (winky emoji) (eat shi- and die emoji)

Amen. We need to give PM a chance to try and turn things around. He inherited a big mess to clean up just like Trump inherited a mess from his predecessor who had 8 years in office to screw up our country. Hopefully PM will drain the swamp here.
