Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

Never ending layoffs

Layoffs should not come as a surprise to anybody working at Cenovus. We've been having continuous layoffs without an end in sight for years now.

The whole process has become a simple numbers game, completely ignoring who it is that is getting shown the door and who it is that remains. This means that we are losing some of our best people, while some of the slackers remain safe.

No wonder our morale is as low as it is. No job security for even the best employees is making everybody uneasy and looking over their shoulders all the time. The fact that we seem to be given bad news every week these days is certainly not helping.

What happened to the company I used to enjoy working for?

Clearwater would mean ex COP staff layoffs. Just when they thought they would be safe.

Timing is related to the closing of the Suffield asset deal. Expect more once the Weyburn and Clearwater deals close.

That is exactly what happened at COP. We saw many good some excellent people have to leave after many years working there. Each department had a number of people they had to let go and they started letting the oldest ones go first. All that experience gone no one left to help the younger ones.
