Thread regarding CVS layoffs

2018 budgets release today

Budgets were released for 2018 payroll. Its bad. My store currently does average of 65-70k a week in fs and 2000+ scripts a week. We were running at a fs payroll budget average of 270-290 my new weekly budget is 261-264 per week. Making an already difficult job even harder, im in CA btw. The metrics will not be lowered and the standards have to remain the same. Time to go work elsewhere, or sue CVS for certain things they violate. Everybody talk to your DL and see what you have in store

I work in the pharmacy. Our tech hours were cut from 120 to 56 . the pharmacy is open for 74 hours per week. What once took 15 minutes now is averaging 1 hour. The phones have not let up the people still come to pick up the medications. we have no lunch breaks or 15 minute breaks we are lucky to have 5 minutes to run to the rest room in a 12 hour shift . The expectation did not change. The required work did not change. I think someone said they are treating us like we do not have interaction with the customers and they are correct. The expectation is 20 scripts per hour and when do we have time for any other task to be done? That comes out to be 3 minutes per pr-scrip-ion including typing up new script, filling, ringing up customer ( with all their other items). When do the inventory tasks ( cycle counts, outdate returns , warehouse returns, outsifde vendor returns , interstore transfers, recalls from manufacturer ,checking in and putting up the weekly and daily order )get done? The Dr calls? Patient calls? Return to stock? Checking email ? and a host of other tasks.

CVS has lost their way. Face it! They are finding their new way with Aetna and Minute Clinic. The stores become a piece of the pie. A smaller piece. Look at who Larry hires to run Operations. Mr. Macy's! Analysis Paralysis. Every decision has to calculate out. Good practice but not good for the future of the franchise. Some people like Larry would have never opened One hour photo due to the Pro Forma. He was over ruled by Tom. Many other risks that Tom took paid off but he never lost site of his people and the base of the organization/ THE STORES! Someday Larry will step away and maybe JR or another leader will have the vision for the future that includes STORES. People are not going to stop shopping stores in America..... It's FUN! But not fun at CVS. NO HELP! HIGH PRICES AND NOTHING REALLY NEW accept the carpet. CVS backbone is the Pharmacy. Waiting in line for 25 minutes and easily go elsewhere ( if you can ). You're not going to buy Front Store merchandise after waiting forever in a line at RX. .... Fix by hiring a MERCHANT to lead the company and move Kevin H. to Minute Clinic! ASAP! Has Kevin Hurrican ever worked a week in a CVS "unannounced". He might see it differently if he did.

We can’t run at Amazon efficiencies if you want to be a customer facing retail store. You have to invest in the experience. We aren’t a closed door warehouse. At some point they’ll connect that dot. Of course sales might bump your demand, but it’s a 4-6 week lag in mySchedule and won’t always correlate the following months. CVS wants to run lean and DLs want their bonuses and it will come at the expense of all the boots on the ground. Did they bump your hours for delivery roll out?

They’ve been cutting all these years to pad the blow from declining sales. Aetna doesn’t address the state of retail for CVS it just changes the direction the company is focused...which is away from retail. Why do you think Helena left? Pharmacy will still stand but will front store?

Guys, sales cures everything. Look inside your building and see what u can do to increase sales and margin. My store was 65k per week and I took it to $85k a week and my budget went up. With green sheets there is another report which gives u per how many $$ amount o we budget in sales u get extra hour. It ranges from $150-$300 extra sales you get additional hour. Times are tough and retail sales is going down company has to cut budget if there is no sales.

I'm not sure who stared this thread about CVS, the only thing I see different is CVS firing some of their DM, the budgets for running the stores seems to always get cut EVERY YEAR, if you can run a store on less budgeted hours they are going to do it. If CVS can hire someone for less money than what these fired DM were making, why not? WHAT COMPANY would NOT do that? So, again, how are/have things changed since the talk about buying Aetna out?

My store makes 40-50 a week & we only get 202 and do 2k scripts a week. Welcome to Florida!!! ( where upper management makes up their own rules)

@xrs our store is at 60K/wk and we are at 255 as well. It's plain stupid and a management harakiri - you cannot run a store like this. Stay tuned, this will have some major repercussions.

New Manager, your dm has you’re yearly budget. You take the budget and divide by 52 thats your labor budget weekly. Green sheets will not be updated properly until February

As a fairly new manager, is there a way I can check this from my store? Are my greensheets updated or do I have to ask the DM?

I also second this. My store does 55k a week and is now classified as minimum staffing 255 hours a week. My DM said “im sorry this isnt right, but there is nothing i can do” he sounded deflated

So, how are we to achieve this? Something has to give, right?
