Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

1,000 plus laid off 2017

At least 1,000+ surplused 12/15 for all US states...most under radar I’d WARN requirements. Post number and work area here for your state. Real number only please.

Actually, giving notice in December, with the actual layoff happening in 2018 is going to allow some people under certain contracts to pick up and keep their entire 2018 vacation days.

Other people will get a job offer per contract. Some people in certain titles are retirement eligible looking for a package to sweeten the exit that will lessen involuntary separations.

Prem tech is the title not looking good, because those are mostly new people, with no retirement eligible people willing to leave.

At&t is on a calendar year for budget that is why layoffs commonly happen at At&t in December.

Laying people off 2 weeks before Christmas is so heartless, even after everything that has happened this year I am still shocked at how dead inside Randy and his management team are.

Just trying to draw attention away from the fact they just pink slipped so many, and in such a heartless way, ruining their holidays.

Funny how Randy has to mention reinvesting in people and that the company is going to pay 200,000 employees including 1st and 2nd level managers a $1000 bonus. Im sure that number doesnt include anyone being laid off january 9, he mentioned all of that and somehow forgot to mention the company is axing all of these prem techs, its a sad day when he would stoop so low as to give employees money so the government will allow the time warner deal.

Something new from Dayton, the company made a mistake!!!!, after a recalculation they took two techs off the list and placed two new techs on the list this morning. Now 7 out of 12 by seniority and 5 based on some?? numbers don't know what they are yet but promised to know by noon Friday 12/21 only took them a week

Totally agree with the last 2 posts about severance and the TW deal. Ya- big deal..$1000 bonus before the 40% tax cut, never mind the thousands we won’t be making when we’re laid off, our stores being sold to Authorized Retailers, Care in Slovakia or some other random country. They should have announced they were giving employees $1000 bucks as a going away gift. Maybe good old Randy can share how much his bonus is with the world press and let them know how many people lost their jobs this year..whatever..

It’s not really a “bonus” more like a severance package 🤓

Randy is just providing cover for the GOP tax cuts for the rich, hoping that making Trump look good will help to push the TW deal through.

We all know that PR announcements and smooth lies mean nothing, it is all in the details and the actions.

A $1000 bonus for employees? Hold your breath until that happens.

watch the web phone- the jibs are not going, they are offshored. Look at the % of of contractors. Note that the % for contractors is increasing while the % of employees is decreasing. What is troubling is the jobs are going to people and nations not interested in the security of the USA.

Check your email for announcement of special 1,000 bonus for employees and announcement of one billion investment in the US. It appears the poster about the tax bill was right. Proof to all you doubters

@1nwt: well said. On a side note there’s a lot of talk about the 35% tax rate for corporations. Pray tell which corporations actually pay this rate. The Republican tax bill will provide momentary tiny relief for the non-rich but will continue to be a giveaway to the rich. This bill will only accelerate the collapse of our economy.

The repeal of net neutrality and the Trump tax cuts for the rich and corporations will slow down Randy's outsourcing and job cuts? Can you even say that with a straight face?

The trickle down theory has never, ever worked and anyone who is honest and understands business knows that. Look at all the tax cuts for the rich since Reagan and look at the REAL tax rate of corporations after all the gimmicks and corporate giveaways built in to our tax code.

Thankfully with the repeal of Net Neutrality and the Trump tax cuts the Company will have a reason to invest in the infrastructure again. This should create jobs and slow down layoffs

None of these numbers capture management titles. Most IT titles are classified as management.

When we get notified of a layoff within the 1st/2nd level jobs, typically we are no longer being told percentages nor raw numbers.

Those that are in the layoff pool get a package that includes a list of people minus their names, so a list with age, title and NCS.

The business cases are kept small to avoid exposing the bigger picture :(
