Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

More layoffs at BB&B incoming?

Days are growing very grim and gray with such a few days until massive lay offs again are coming for most of the remaining mgrs.

Found this in another thread. I was wondering if this was just somebody venting and predicting what's about to come or is this based on something concrete? Did I miss something? I'd be grateful for any info.

There will not be any vacation time earned, no sick pay earned before layoffs happen. As for as severance pay they only have to give u what they feel like, they don’t have any feelings, just want you gone.

I don’t understand these comments. According to the Warn Act 60 day’s notice has to be given, or severance pay be given in lieu of notice. Also in California, all vacation and holiday must be paid out at time of termination. Not sure about other states. Don’t know if layoff rumors are true or not, but sudden layoffs without compensation is against the law.

Don’t they have to offer a severance package. With no notice this violates the WARN act that if you have over 100 employees you must give 60 days notice for layoffs and closures. Something doesn’t seem right. I see massive lawsuits ahead.

They should start trimming at the top. Start with Steve Tamares.

Trump just gave a huge tax cut. Why on earth would this company lay off? Thought times were getting better. BB&B works office staff and floor supervisors to death. Focus on keeping jobs for your employees. They would be much more loyal if you took better care of them. It is a plain and simple fact.

When it comes down to it, the company is top heavy. The spots that open up during the next round of layoffs will be filled by district and regional staff that are asked to step down when they trim the fat at the top. When faced with unemployment or a store position, many will choose the store position. Especially when they have to face the fact that no severance package will be offered this time around.

There is something coming...no doubt about that. Not sure what it would entail. Company is very top heavy and needs restructuring from the top down, not the other way around.

Supposedly a second round of layoffs is happening sometime after inventory is over. Foe what it’s worth, HR is being very careful about how they answer when asked about further layoffs. I don’t feel good about things.
