Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Is this with or without the manager's knowledge? All my reviews take place over the phone (skype), so I'd have no way of knowing if a director was sitting in my manager's office (although I doubt it), and I suppose it's possible the line could be monitored.

If they are listening in on my manager and I talk about, I'd say we're both in trouble. Not that I care. I truly, truly do not.

So true. Since Tipsord moved up in rank, things have gotten very bad. Currently, customer service is in deep trouble, employees are scared, angry, and confused, management are trying to implement incoherent and incomplete plans, agents are just bunkering down waiting for a buyout. The turnover rates in the new "hubs" are huge (thus the customer service issues). I am not sure there when this "restructure" will end or come to a good spot. I hear in some departments, directors are listening in on their manager's review of their employees to make sure the company line is being towed, MG5 level employees are having to document every 15 minutes of their work...just when I thought having monthly reviews are bad enough, I think more of this micromanaging is coming in 2018. It has been a great run. The Farm used to be a place I was proud of and worked my tail off, but now, I am trying to hang on and am looking outside. Depressing.

The leadership structure at State Farm Systems is bloated.

Our managers are non-technical and many of them contribute nothing of value to the organization. They are pencil pushers, whose only job appears to be informing their charges of the latest corporate policies and then allowing other people to determine our raises and promotions.

Our architects (most of them) are paper architects. Those who had tech experience have generally lost it. They seem to be very good at playing politics, but not much else. Plus, they value strategy over tactics, but unfortunately have very little idea what strategy really is. They are selectively engaged with their teams and of questionable value when they are.

Directors and above are good at getting Systems into messes, again with limited technical experience.

In theory, the new condensed leadership structure is a step in the right direction. Unfortunately, those implementing haven't a clue what they are doing, so probability of success remains extremely low.

I also left recently and I am happy going into work. No more stress and anxiety. I hated the leadership at SF, minus the few good leaders I came across.
