Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Christmas sales up?

Media is saying it was a good christmas, yet I can't find one retailer that had a strong christmas, least of all the big ones. Sears is way down, Wal-Mart is down, and now I see even Toys R Us, selling toys at christmas, and they're down 15%.

Nope, not buying it. Been lied to so many times by supposedly "respectable people" that I no longer assume the media and corporations tell the truth. Maybe the corporations put out massaged, fake numbers and the media just reports them, dunno, but it sure wasn't a "good christmas."

The media is saying retail sales in general. You forget a lot of other big players... Amazon up, Walmart online up big time, all the online avenues up up up. This is why it’s scary and the news is reporting big layoffs and store closings to trim fat. They speak about it everyday on CNBC saying brick and mortar will shrink. So I am not sure your watching or listening to the whole story because the whole story is out there being told. Just my 2 cents...
