Even toy sales down 15% vs 2016

Ok, I didn't think much of it when the media said christmas sales were up, cause who knows? Maybe they were, but now I see Toys R Us, selling TOYS AT CHRISTMAS for pete's sake and they're down 15%!

I know Sears is down badly, and I know Wal-Mart is down too, so this just makes me think that story about christmas sales being up is pure fabrication. Execs lie to us, managers lie to us, corporations lie about their financials.

Is it really a stretch that the media would lie too? Or report financial lies that corporations put out? I dont have much difficulty believing that anymore.

@lul That's why a lot of the Barbie dolls on the shelves these days are designed more for adult collectors than for kids to play with, I think.

Walmart is UP, they kicked Amazon's a-- this year

Toys are a distressed category, look at Hasbro and Mattel. the core issue is that kids used to play with Barbies until they were 10 or 12, and now it's maybe 6. Similar pattern for boys. All the toy dollars get spent on digital toys now. Boys are essentially done with all toys by the time they're 6 and are on the xbox. There's a reason the tech sector is growing like crazy!

Walk into a store and buy toys? Lol.

I use to walk into the video store and rent movies too.

Of course the media is embellishing things. While there is a hint or two of truth to it, fact of the matter is Sears and Kmart did horrible this quarter. But do you honestly think Fast Eddie would allow that info to be leaked before they are ready themselves to release the bad news themselves? Course not.
