Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

A quick way to make a huge chunk of extra money at the Farm?

While this is not an opportunity I care to take advantage of (my situation prevents it), I wanted to share this with the rest of you in case it might help.

I am part of a group that has been severed. My last day is March 31st. Something that HR said during one of the Q&A sessions caught my attention: It's possible, apparently, for us to collect our severance on March 31st and then turn around and accept a position with state farm a couple of days later. Yeah, that sounds nuts, I know.

Generally speaking, if you collect severance from a company, the company has some minimum wait time in place before you can be rehired, precisely to prevent situations like that.

I can't promise that this applies to all groups. But my group certainly isn't "leadership."

I also have my doubts that HR would allow this to actually happen, despite the fact that I have this claim in writing from HR.

But if what they are saying is true, and if it applies to your group, you could collect your severance and then immediately turn around and start applying for another job with SF. It's a risk, I know. Just thought I'd pass it along.
