Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Failed strategies

It is a row of failed strategies one after the other: for instance the change from biannual to annual review was a terrible mistake, Q was ahead of competition due to the non-stop review mindset, we used to complete one review and were ready to start a new one to get stocks and bonus in 6 months. Now the motivation has dramatically changed, folks will spend half a year doing just enough since it will not matter performance wise. And now HR and management want to reach attrition goals for 2018 and the folks leaving are exactly the ones who could change the fate of this dying company. The incompetent pet-like folks will stay until the very end. In the past, Q would fight hard for each employee, I witnessed a coworker to get promoted when he got a lateral offer from Broadcom and he lied saying he got a promo from Broadcom. I just hope to find a new job and leave soon.

It is sad what has happened the last 3 or 4 years there. But not entirely unexpected with weak management and a seemingly blind cut costs mentality. Management is now trying to save their own bacon from regulators and Broadcomm. I enjoyed my time there but am glad to be gone.
