Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

All Employee broadcast

Why are these "leaders" laughing like mental patients?

GE is sinking, employees are worried about their futures.

Capital allocation?? Come on..this is about workforce reduction. stop the spin.

And if that new finance lead say "reset" one more time...

Total waist of time unless you were entertained by their banter and mindless laughter which I thought was totally inappropriate. Could they be any further out of touch??? What were they thinking? Indeed a truly sad day for GE.

Total waste. Scripted questions. Rehearsed answers. Should've opened up questioning to the employees who will be out of a job or herded off to another company. You wouldn't have seen any laughing or chumminess from that cast of characters. Let them hear from the people who will have their lives disrupted and see how they react to that. It's always what's best for the stockholders not the employees.

So much inappropriate behavior was exhibited during that all hands meeting. I wonder what Neutron Jack's comments would be after struggling through that exhibition of the new leadership.

I want to know who all on the executive board thought those movie clips were a good idea. Will Ferrell in his underwear was not a good idea.

This meeting shows that leadership is so out of touch with the people who actually do the work.

Laughter, buzz words, AND inspirational movie clips? We all just sat through a High School Pep Rally.

Totally insulting that neither transportation nor BHGE were even mentioned. Very clear that GE has moved on, without so much as an afterthought to these businesses.

You will hear about the layoffs when HR send you an e-mail or invite

I am so glad that it wasn't just me thinking that the behavior was totally inappropriate. A serious moment in the company and we have a chuckle session filled with platitudes - "follow the sun not the clouds" - totally tone deaf as someone commented.

So what did we learn - nil, zilch, nada... except we did learn much - a CFO who is only interested in shareholder value (which is nothing but a reflection of company health) and mixing with the power brokers and TV appearances , a CEO who displays insensitivity, an HR man who keeps the platitudes running. The Power lead I felt was a little embarrassed by the tone, but joined in later - therefore not his own man , a lack of character. An innovation lead who is pure functionary.

Are we impressed by our leaders - watch this space - this broadcast will come back to haunt them.

These employee broadcasts are always useless and out of touch. Perfect example of why we are in this mess and why we will not recover.

They act like if everything is going great. That was the worst all hands ever! Wish all GE employees the best.

Disappointing. Way too much laughter. Too many empty words. Don’t care about sports metaphors or vacations in Maui. Employees mentioned usually as an afterthought. Uninspiring waste of time.

I liked the call, makes me relieved that I'll be looking at GE from the rearview mirror. The over-focus on financial analytics will squash GE's ability to innovate. Innovation is a product of management investing in employees. Note the term "investing" doesn't always equate to $$, a happy employee is typically a very productive employee. Cheers! to all who will be looking at GE in the rearview mirror.

Talk of vacations and laughter just validates leadership is 100% out of touch with common employees and the gravity of layoffs, loss of pension, reduction in benefits and grim future...

let's all hear about the "leaders'" favorite vacation places.

Clueless

Tone deaf

They just want to hear themselves talk.

They DO NOT care to listen to employees.

And now they're showing a video when many could not open the video broadcast.

These are people being compensated in millions of dollars having a good chuckle at your expense. Many of our lives are going to be deeply impacted by a "reset". Best of luck to all the worker bees of GE.

I can't even join it via video. For a "digital" company this is pretty sad. i joined an Amazon event and they mentioned a few million people on there at once. We can't even get an all-employee event to work... sigh

But isn't it nice how the execs are sitting there laughing re-arranging the deck chairs on the titanic?
