Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Will security be provided for people that take the bus Thursday and Friday?

Since the shopping season has arrived and now we get rediculous schedules I was wondering, there are some that do take the bus to work and Home so...

  1. Will there be security for these employees waiting for the bus when their shift ends at 1AM, or in the wee hours ( not sure if they even run at that time)

  2. Pretty sad when a Sears schedules an employees end shift without maybe asking first if anyone has transportation issues, takes the bus, can’t see good to drive in the dark, other commitments..babysitter issues, other jobs

  3. In years past our store ask for volunteers for the worst shifts then kinda filled in around it

  4. How is your store handling these issues? I know Work comes first in the world of sears but life also happens and it should not be planned without some input from employees

I still haven’t seen any seasonal help! I heard a couple that were hired at our store quit within their first week on the job

@QlXRs8O-zss actually I’m in Detroit. And I feel perfectly safe going anywhere in the city or suburbs at any time of the night. Don’t stand there waiving a wad of cash and you should be fine.

  • @-dhz you must be in Bendover KS b/c you're certainly NOT from, or in, a major urban area - bus stop, elevated trains, & just plain ole' street robberies are a major form of recreation in MUA's

Scary where your at OP in our store we got mall security that is outside, but is useless. Inside we just got useless AP as always. Kind of sad how some places are just far more dangerous being afraid of getting mugged.

Our SM lets us keep a firearm on us in the store as long as we show him our CCW permit. Couple of us will walk the women out to their cars or the bus stop but none take the bus that I know of. Of course that’s here in Texas, y’all might do it different.

They might have security inside the stores, but the store doesn't care much for the employees leaving or coming to work as long as they come. My suggestion to employees is using the buddy system and have another associate walk with them to the bus or parking lot.

I get it....I worked in the stores years ago, and whenever we had inventory we worked until 3-4am in the morning. I remember the first time I did that and when I was done, I was so tired I literally started crying. Then I went to work at the Gap as a store manager and we have to work all sorts of shifts due to having to change out the store every 8 weeks or so. We never had any security....not saying it was right or wrong but we never did either when I was in the stores at Sears working odd hours or the Gap. At the store level, it is up to your Store Manager to take all these things into consideration and hopefully you have a good Store Manager who does this.

What state are you in???

Who needs security at a bus stop? Generally people rob people with money. You will be perfectly safe at the bus stop!
