Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Black Friday is upon us and I sure haven’t seen any seasonal help

Management either lied and said they DID hire seasonal help

Or

Seasonal help quickly figured out that Sears is not where they want to work without any kind of employee discount

Did your store get a lot of seasonal help?

If they hired enough to begin with people would not have to do killer shifts this Thursday and Friday

Rediculous to even be opening Thanksgiving!! People lived many years without going out buying “stuff” Thursday

We should ALL be home with our families and not rushing to eat/fix dinner because if the greedy CEOs

Thought this crap up

It’s pretty crappy that they schedule someone Thursday shift ends 12AM

And then Friday 5AM start for a 12 hour shift??

Sears does not care at this point about employees getting enough rest between shifts

5 hours between shifts is pushing it!!

And that 5 hours.. subtract 1 hour to get home and back, subtract eating..1/2 hour.. subtract 1/2 hour fall asleep..subtract 1/2 to get ready and what do you have maybe 2.5 hours between shifts?? Shame on the store manager that scheduled this!!

And this isn’t a seasonal employee!!

Be greatful for hours??? NO

Hire some darn people earlier in the year so they can handle Black Friday and stop piling the work if 8 on 2 people

We not only don't have enough help, but we have fewer working front-end registers than the poor guy on those safety stickers on the cash office safe doors has left on one hand. I guess it kind of balances out, as we MIGHT have enough operators to be able to cover the actual working registers for the whole day.

So long as they're getting a paycheque, why would anyone care what company they do temp work for?

Not like they're betting their future on Sears.

I feel bad in the end they ended up hiring a bunch of seasonals, but their hours are pure crap. It seems like a big waste of time to me overall because they are getting less than 20 hours hell some got less than 10 hours and guess whats worse they didn't even prep to be ready for BF. Its going to be horrendous. This is coming from SL I swear the company isnt even trying at all at this point.

It's because they are doing mass job hunts and I'm fairly sure that Sears/Kmart is at the bottom of their lists. If they get hired elsewhere they don't bother to do the interview.

Our Kmart I think has a few new hires but I"m fairly certain they will not last long. They will probably be only two registers open, even on black Friday, for the first half of the day and it will be noobs running them.

No seasonal help (or very little), but not because the HR isn't trying! We hire and then they quit or stop showing up! We have less people this year then every before.
