Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Associates fed up and leaving

Was reteamed again. She doesn’t seem thrilled to have reteamed members. I’m done. Never worked in such a negative environment prior to Humana.

Just trying to make it to January to see if I make next layoff list and if the January thing-that-is-not-a-bonus applies to me. Then I’m ramping up the job hunt and going. I’ve talked with others and they have the same game plan.

I’m wondering- after all of this uncertainty- is the 2.0 model set up to withstand a mass exodus of associates in 2018? I’m sure coaches are looking for other opportunities at this point as well.

Stock is up because of the layoffs and cut backs and less money going out

There are a number of RNs that I know of with similar plans, OP.

@Qu2Rwbe-1suo Record number of layoffs but the stock is up 13%, higher than during the anticipated merger with AETNA when speculators made a killing. so much for unhappy workers negatively affecting profit. More likely the other way around.

Humana doesn’t work for us - lol. What a joke. Yes, yes they do in a real sense. Have you ever heard of the concept of internal customers? If we are miserable, then it permeates the entire business, including profits. It is very beneficial to a company to have happy employees.

How is a poster asking for empathy for others “very confused?”

@mkc - your post was well said and clearly coming from a position of kindness. If that makes you “confused,” we could all use a little more confusion, I guess.

Below poster, this thread is full of people planning on leaving, not “putting themselves through the misery of a job they hate.”

Many have resigned and this will continue. It is not about “bi——g about Humana” - it’s about looking for other options when conditions become unbearable.

@Qu2Rwbe-mkc It's okay then to be b--ching out Humana no matter what the truth, question why someone is putting themselves through the misery of a job they hate and that's not okay. You my friend are very confused. Humana doesn't work for us.

Qu2Rwbe-ciw Do you have any compassion about what people are saying?.. think about it through the lenses of other people... Instead of saying "who cares..leave" how about hearing what they are not saying.. they are frustrated..uncertain.. scared...members arent receiving the "perfect experience" from being bounce around.... Do you honestly think that Humana are acting on their values? Come on the nay sayers..try to listen with compassion PLEASE or just stay off of this site.. Maybe this is the only place they can come to be heard.

Devastated and angry about what has happened at HAH over the last year. I have been re-teamed again and feel absolutely heartbroken about the whole thing. I have lost all sense of security - lost all my friends and great supervisor. I don’t want this job anymore. Just trying to make it through each day without having a mental breakdown.

Hanging on until after the holidays then will leave for another job RN

I don’t think employee retention is a priority for the HAH program, honestly.

There doesn’t seem to be any concern that members are frustrated with being bounced around from care manager to care manager and after enough times, they stop answering the phones.

Not really a “perfect experience” (or servant role or some such corporate gibberish?) but it’s obviously not a priority.

I’m sure if there is a mass exodus they will hire to meet the staffing needed, and until then, those left will pick up the slack

HCM-RN here. We lost two team members to RIF, one to early retirement, and two to resigning. Morale is terrible right now, team chat used to book with Team mates chatting, it’s a dead zone now. Far cray from where it was when I started a few months ago. My plan is to bide my time and and keep checking for openings elsewhere.

This is why, if cuts are needed, a voluntary layoff makes sense.

I have the same plan as OP. Others I know are in the same boat.

Humana told they press they anticipate layoffs in Jan. Of course, they did not specify what departments, roles, and I know things can change with open enrollment. I will see how this plays out and then I have to go. This is no good for me any more., for a number of reasons.

Below poster, maybe team had 16 and 4 just resigned within the past 12 weeks. So maybe some folks just talk, but that’s 25% of a team voluntarily walking away within one quarter.

Granted, that’s just my team, other teams may have shown greater stability, but morale is shot to h—l right now and people will naturally look for options.

Most people are all talk and trying to hang on despite their constant complaints of Humana. I doubt we see a voluntary mass exodus!
