There have been some recent calls/meetings telling 'certain' teammates about early retirement packages being offered to them. Apparently on one of the calls to some older folks in EIS (about two weeks ago), the HR lady said 'to make room for younger talent and reduce costs...' a recording of this would have been golden...

I was surprised to hear about this. There is a lot of institutional knowledge, in key roles, out the door as a result. It makes me feel a little grateful for being RIF’ed due to a new, poor leadership team who buckled under the pressure of a SVP (who also was new and has since left) and his new manager which were working in unison to rid of me because I did not apply for a job they posted, under them, despite their attempts to lure me and because they looked foolish in meetings because I knew more about their areas than they did. Those key people they let go due to age are the ones I had the most solid partnerships with and depended on, as do many others.
They did this to us after 20+ years of loyal service... it's devastating!
