It was 80 to 120, original post was a typo. Some strategic groups got laid off it was not only groups that had no work left. Public Cloud and Predix engineers were laid off
Coretech has 150 people. Wiped out.
It is 80-100 at most. Detroit hub only had only about 800 before today's layoffs. Most layed off were coretech. The remaining 700 are mostly shared service types and scrum teams working on pods for various vertical projects. The layoffs target functions that are no longer strategic and have little to no work remaining. Next year more layoffs but would only be guessing on how many. Hope i make it through.
In another thread it says that 80 in Michigan were affected. Is it a typo here, 80 or 800?
Small number <20% impacted
700 today. 550 in a couple of months?
Sorry to hear that. There is lots of life after GE particularly for an IT trained individual. So much so, the industry is importing thousand of workers from third world countries. One needs to be flexible for geographic location. It will be hard on the families in the beginning, but this nightmare will be in the rear view mirror after a short while. Just hang in there.
GE digital has 800 at Van Buren, but there are also at least several hundred non GE digital employees working out of there. There are several entire groups that were disbanded today.
That's not true. The Michigan office had ~800 people total. About 120 (mostly CoreTech) were impacted.
Public cloud, Predix engineering, Brilliant factory, IT (email, oracle, and some other IT applications) are some of the groups out of Michigan. It is mostly a GE Digital office and 800 is more than half of the 1500 or so that work out of the office.
What is the product/service at the Michigan site? 800 is a huge number. How many left there?
Sorry to hear that, apparently today is a layoff Pearl Harbor of sorts...
