Buying the SRX product line

Cisco is in talks with Juniper to buy the SRX product line. Sometimes enemies work together especially if it benefits both. Cisco, it is believed, will then kill the SRX and push existing customers to migrate to Cisco's existing security products (ASA, Firepower, etc).

Found this on Juniper page ( @QnkA2TT-7opp ) and thought that this was actually a rather good idea, even if not true.

It's called buying customers. Cisco does this all the time (buys a company for it's customers/eyeballs, then kills off the product or solution and moves customers to another solution).

Citation needed.

That's exactly the point. If Cisco would be doing it to buy customers, then they would eyeball Fortinet or PAN. SRX hardly has any customers that use them for security. Most SRX customers use the boxes as a CPE routing device as its MPLS capable. But continue the Bong hit if it gives you any solace. Sounds ds like frustrated Juniper guy clutching at straws. Junipers looking at an unfathomable drop.

I work for juniper. We are struggling to sell SRX as a security device. Most customers use an SRX as an edge device as it is R&S and MPLS capable. The security BU is taking hits after hits every quarter. Why would Cisco wish to buy such a product and offer support on Juniper's own software? They won't even get any security customer base! Boggles the mind. But then again, Cisco has made many many acquisitions just to dump them and fire everyone associated. If that's what they are aiming to do, then welcome! Buy and fire the worthless, waste-of-space Juniper security BU. They are a cancer Juniper does not seem to be able to get rid of. Do it for us! Save Juniper!

What are the OP and whoever sh!t-for-brain came up with the idea smoking? I want some of the same exotic stuff. Why would Cisco buy a crap security product which is Junos (Juniper proprietary software) based? How would they get around the legalities of copyrights and supporting it? Cisco has far better security solutions and firewalls. What a complete nonsensical pipe-dream
