Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Data Protection needs Data Protection

So this finally has come to light after a number of people internally tried to highlight that DPS (BURA, BRS, DPAD, DPS, we keep changing our names every year to throw them off the scent) software is in need of starting over. Data Domain is still a single controller limited by CPU and also Garbage collection hinders the performance with Avamar workloads. It is a mess over here, but we just keep smiling and pushing our products.

Data protection is a highly competitive market place, no one wants a basic backup product.

throw eCDM in the mix also. It's been watered down to a basic backup product. It had good intentions at first, but people were let go and that's when the product went south.

These software packages mentioned in the article - Dell EMC Avamar Server, NetWorker Virtual Edition, Avamar Installation Manager are Mickey-Mouse software pieces which were written by low-level software engineers and were supervised by technical directors who have no clue of IT security and software development in general. Ah, forgot to mention that those directors got there positions through ol'chum-netowork. Surprise, surprise - here is the result ..
