Now that the oil price has been inching up for the last few weeks, I have friends who were laid off for a year, 2 years, >2 years telling me stories of receiving some possible scam email/phone calls and phising incident.
For me, I am a 52 years old engineer being laid off for 2 and half years despairing landing a job back in the oil industry. I had my mortgage to pay, 2 children to support in college, a dog, a cat, a car payment to take care of, along with the food bills and medical insurance. I jumped on any chance when there is a glimmer of hope.
Out of the blue, I received an unknown phone number text message that say "Hello John, remember me? Are you still in New Orleans, I got a job for you."
I replied, "I am sorry, I dont recognized your phone number, What is your name and what is that job opportunity you can shed some light on?"
To cut a long story short..... no one pick up the phone when I call, but after a few text message exchanges that I realized it was a scam. So I stop playing his game.
Would you share your experience for scum who prey on those who were in these destitute time?
