EXTENSIVE LAYOFFS @ AKAMAI

They laid off people who actually did any work at Akamai, while the Vice Presidents, Directors and all their ancillary staff who contributed so little and were the fundamental reason for cost overruns have been spared. Not to mention frivolous expenses by hiring non-essential administrative staff and running socialists program and spending $400 million acquiring companies who contributed so very little to the bottomline of Akamai was not even questioned. Absolutely appalling leadership at the top.
What's the serverance?
Poorly planned and executed. Good luck fellow laid-offers
Bummer about layoffs, especially after beating earnings. You folks will land jobs...not sure what departments got affected, but we are hiring globally and in all departments at Cloudera. Take a look :)

Layoffs happen, but they don't have to happen like this. Confusion, rumors, chaos, fear. Zero communication whatsoever. Just guards roaming the halls, people sobbing with boxes, access revoked like criminals, managers telling you to keep quiet. 7 hours later, we got our first email mentioning it, buried in a quarterly earnings report.
We have an All Hands meeting today. Maybe the senior management will bless us with more laughter and jokes on stage, like they did when they told us they were delaying raises and cutting bonuses.
Best of luck to everyone searching for a new job. Lots of talented and good people.
@RBUxNtC-1anm, GOOD LUCK
Surprisingly the Accenture mafia who are highly paid and under performing workforce are safe, the senior leadership minus ExAccenture needs to look into this and make amends . It's sad to be part of this layoff, hopefully we will all land jobs soon.
Yep, about 4% announced. Contrary to previous poster, I know a number of people who work very hard doing useful things and were let go. Not happy about it, especially after the company beat earnings estimates.
They said they laid off 300 people or about 4%. My whole team was axed. It's weird. There are so many people there working on nothing. It amazes me. I thought about half the company would have been fired.
