Thread regarding Southwestern Energy Co. layoffs

Layoff Consultants

Yes they’re selling Fayetteville. Yes layoffs are coming. They’re bringing in consultants to help determine how to reduce costs and they will give a layoff head count recommendation by discipline. Layoffs will be company wide and no one is necessarily safe.

They will most likely cut a lot of support staff like accountants, BIS, HR, etc...people that are easily disposable and replaceable. They will not relocate headquarters to Appalachia. Most likely will consolidate to one building and the other tower will go dark. Time to update our resumes...

SWN should be a good classroom discussion for other companies. What went wrong with SWN? How can we avoid this with our company?

Hope last post WRONG...would be a true shame to NOT RETAIN people with know how/knowledge of NEPA and WVA. SHOULD HAVE FAYETTVILLE SOLD 3 YEARS AGO. Maybe we can work with BHP Billiton selling Fayetteville as a package deal.

NEPA & WV will be hit pretty hard... Have to make room for all the ARK buddies and family members.

I'm betting these consultants have been at work for a while already. A lot of things they've done in Arkansas make sense now, i.e. getting out of Conway office, selling compression, JL's retirement. I'm betting this moves a lot quicker than we think.

The details are to come; sale of Fayetteville, layoffs , retirements , move to one building ....

how that all comes down will be probably longer than we would want. Consultants have to come in , recommendations made, then implementation. Same time probably prepping Fayetteville for sale, data rooms etc .

Surely any hiring will stop; especially college recruiting . I’m not sure if we have any new college kids coming in - what a disaster if so.

And finally we get out of the travel agent mountain climbing business ( with a veneer of charity) .

The already glum feel will get darker .

For those who haven’t been through it ; it will be the grief stages - denial, anger aceptance etc..

But this announcement was in someways bigger than the 2016 layoffs .. it is giving up on the swn that was . Understandable . In 2016 it was at least a facade to say the course

Like it’s not already “political and brutal”??? Been that way since before Aug 2015 (layoff #1). Certain people are “protected”. Everyone should be fair game this time around, including ELT!!
