Glassdoor Reviews

I just looked at IBM reviews on Glassdoor. I want to work at the make believe IBM those people are hallucinating about, not the real one I have to look at every day.

Think about Glassdoor's operating model for a moment here - the majority of money Glassdoor makes is from sponsoring deals with companies - Almost all big enterprise HR groups are in bed with them, all pay them to maintain their company profiels - just like we pay to LinkedIn to maintain our LI page over there - anyhow, all posts are moderated, good luck sneaking through anything that the censor does not like (most critical stuff will be rejected).

So, when reading things on GD you need to really read between the lines - som Good means meh, OK means bad, Awesome means good and so on.

Honestly, aside from this site you will not find a spot where you can read the real truth as they are in bed with CNBC and other media - as long as they are buying ads they are golden there - I am not going ALT on you here or pushing conspiracy theories - this is purely based on my observations. Reddit can be good, but is has some other issues, hard to navigate, there is a ton of folks fishing for info, etc, etc - really not a review site...

So, I guess the RA didn't happen today?

I wrote a review about a year ago and was professional yet very honest about the many problems. I got a message right away that my message was deleted. You cannot trust the system for posting on that website. They must have moderators for each comment that work with the exec team. Otherwise it doesn't make sense why a third party website would have deleted my review.

If someone is going to clean them up, they're worthless

Someone must have cleaned those negative reviews up at GD then, because I remember looking about a year ago and most were horrible reviews (truthful though) about IBM.

I don't think the positive reviews are fake.. They are probably just new IBMers basking in the glow of a wonderful company.. Wait till they've been there a few years. I am surprised by the lack of negative reviews, which has made me a bit cynical of Glassdoor..

That's why we need everyone, whether a past or current employee, to go create a review there. It's anonymous and easy-only takes a minute and you get to put in a vote of non-confidence for the CEO. They do post the negative reviews as long as they're done with taste/professionally. There are more of us than there are fake reviewers, fight back!

You can always tell the fake reviews --- they are simple to the point of useless. "Nice company, good people and I can learn." CONS " Nothing I can think of" ----- now that is a shill at work. The longer reviews that occupy a full paragraph or two are the real ones.

I’ve always presumed some reviews in GD are just fake. I don’t know anyone...not one person...who is below director level and happy. The director-level and higher people that I interact with feign happiness and love blaming their poor planning on the plebeians beneath them. If you bring truth to the table, and innovative ways to fix the problems, you are ignored then later pulled aside by your manager who silently warns you to stop making waves. Sometimes I think all this company sells are unicorn farts packaged into buzzwords and then they call it “innovation.” True innovation at this company is dead. For me, ibm stands for “I’m by myself.” I’m interviewing outside of the company, because I’ve had enough.
