Head Cashier Laid Off From Barnes and Nobles

I was laid off with out warning. I clocked in for my shift and was pulled into the office 15 mins later to be told the bad news. It was a shock but I'm sure we all feel the same way. Best of luck to you all and I hope your future endeavors will be successful.

I wonder how Barnes and Noble will function now without its leads or receiving managers, on top the hour cuts!

(Barnes and Noble is also on the bankruptcy watch list for the 2018!)

I went into work at 7am. I was a Head Cashier. At 10am I was told I no longer had a job.

You cannot build without tools. Head cashiers and sales leads should be the last to go. The most loyal and productive employees are the very foundation.

This is a Company that has "empathy" in it's core values! No notice, no warning.

I was on vacation when I got a call from the store manager this morning who "needed to speak with me face to face", at which point I figured out what was going on and asked "Are they eliminating the receiving manager position?". He stated that both receiving manager and head cashiers positions were "going away" immediately and then explained the severance package. I figured I'm not going to drive 30 minutes to be told I don't have a job anymore!
