Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Coca Cola employee here

Reading your posts, the pattern is exactly the same as it was for us. Shock, anger, then trying to find hope in thinking another company will value you or will want you.

Well, if any of you think you can just take your skills elsewhere, like another soft drink manufacturer, let me tell you, it's even worse over here and has been for much longer.

Most of you have tunnel vision, and think this is all about Pepsi, as did we with Coke, but we've had time to see the bigger picture by now, as you will in time too. You got your shock wake up call, but actual reality of what's going on in the industry and world won't settle in until you discover why this is happening and how widespread it is.

Far, far beyond Coke and Pepsi, the entire economy in fact.

F--- outsourcing and f--- Indra Nooyi. Her comment at the meeting was I'm sorry. Well f--- you.

She uses the company as her own little piggy-bank to support sh--holes. Then she hires third worlders and pushes out everyone else. The demographics are changing in a big big way. The election last year was just the beginning of a turning tide keep pushing the envelope and watch what happens. There's a lot of anger building up around this.

@-mkt, CLEARLY, it was a error since the n is right by the m on a keyboard. You misspelling initiative leaves no room for excuses.

Laughed at the garbage apps comment

So true

Also, its nice that the Coke person reached out to us

I would be curious to hear her or his account of what happened at Coke and how the current situation is

Finally, let me be blunt, f--- outsourcing, Accentre, Deloitte, IBM, Cap and all other domestic pimps of the 3rd world low quality labor... I am ignoring Tata, Cognisant, Infy, Wipro and others on purpose

@RJ6y4O7-mkt spellimg? Perhaps YOU should take some spelling classes, seeing that you didn't spell "spelling" correctly in a comment making fun of someone else's spelling error. 😒

@RJ6y4O7-ouo you're absolutely right. The absolute best applications available to NAB front line were built by talented, passionate people in-house for a tiny amount of money by PBG. The amount of money they thrown at outsourcing for garbage apps is absurd. They are hemorrhaging money because of it.

You may want to take spellimg classes, seeing that you didn't spell indicative correctly. Since you are trying to point others shortcomings.

@THE BIG PICTURE may want to take some remedial English courses before pushing their progressive political agenda or offering up any more advice. I'd be looking for a robot too if their posting is indiciative of their communication abilities.

People, please pay attention! All jobs will be replaced by conputers/robots in the near future.

We have to provide universal basic income.

A lot more people will be layed off from all kinds of conpanies (look at Amazon, es a frontrunner).

We cannot survive as species, unless we chabge the system

Take some time to grieve then put a resume together and get out there. do a great job and be loyal to yourself! It’s easier to do after an experience like this. There is a better life after Pepsi.

I know IT (BIS) at Pepsi does a lot of outsourcing, but other companies are starting to bring back development in-house. High performing software development teams do best when co-located, even if Pepsi can't seem to figure that out.

Higher education usually does no outsourcing at all for IT. You have to know where to look.

"For those laid off who work in IT, you skills are wanted elsewhere across all kind of different industries."

Actually, IT is one of the hardest hit sectors due to India outsourcing and undercutting. You may have had luck personally, but the sector as a whole is one of the worst.

Oh, and here's our forum, where you can read what we've been through and how hope departed long ago.

You should just be grateful the ride lasted as long as it did, cause it's over and it's not coming back, believe me.
