Strong speculation from reliable sources say by year end Greenville and NY plants in the power entity will be closed. The profit to revenue margins are subpar like the newly created positions on salary side. The only ones taking these positions are wanna be’s who corporate put in these positions. So that these facilities will close for poor quality and performance. Morale is low across GE and even lower on the shops floors. No one cares at both facilities they care about nothing at all. LONG LIVE ALSTOM!!

Show me the way to go home, I’m
Tired and I wanna go to bed;
I Had a little drink about an hour ago, and it’s
Gone right to my head
Wherever I may roam, o’er
Land or sea or foam, you can
Always hear me singin’ this song
Show me the way to go home.

I saw 20-30% reduction in blue collar jobs will be eliminated for Greenville. Along with a 20-25% blue collar reduction in New York blue collar work force in the very near future. The stock holder wants an aggressive change they are saying Flannery is not aggressive enough with the reduction. I have read in memos that selling off part of our power division is highly probable. I have been with GE corporate for 24 years I have seen a lot but this is worse than the media and the world thinks. Get out while you still have a chance the longevity of careers are over.
Nice h---phobic insults. But they won't save your job.
I heard all Alstom employees were excellent shlong s---ers. Maybe you can find a job in the g-- movie industry!
Safe to say there will be reduced volume at Greenville Gas Turbine. Spare parts and repair will be there a long time.
Then why is there hardly any repair volume anymore? A lot of customers are getting their parts from third parties, which takes us out of the picture since we won't touch non-OEM hardware.
They are not closing Greenville. Too much money in spare parts and repair . Over 8,000 units in the field need spares and repaired parts.
There are also other businesses in Greenville (Aviation at Donaldson, renewables, etc). They would only be closing the Gas Turbines facility.
Funny how stupid people are when they state they are selling schdy.. theres many businesses in schdy, they are only closing st turbine business...
Wind Energy, 3rd generation carreer guy thinks all is fine. He's part of the problem. Need to get rid of Morons like that.
GE closed all domestic repair shops in the US and moved the work into Greenville factory.
And this folks is why things will get worse. Customers are not using the turbines they've already bought. Their parts are not wearing out. They are trying to renegotiate their CSA's. The SEC is investigating how cash from CSA's was counted as profit.
GE Power is the Kodak of energy. If you're old, you need to stop buying things on credit and pump up your savings. If you're young then you need to move on, find another industry. I know there's a certain relief from avoiding layoffs but please, please get ahead of things and make good proactive decisions. You do not want to go to work with people who have their choices made for them.
Fake news.
Don’t you mean “hot out of my a$$”?
Greenville is not closing for 2 reasons: 1. Test Stand. Both new products and some customer units require testing. 2. GE closed all domestic repair shops in the US and moved the work into Greenville factory. Some of the bitter cynics on this site would have you believe they know something.
I am a third generation GE career employee and I have seen tons of ups and downs in my career. I have been through 2 plant closures! Yes...GE is presently not making billions in Power as we should be but just remember....Never give up ! GE makes fantastic products, we just have to get the management side of the house straightened out. There may be downsizing and plant closures but that's part of the business cycle. S--- it up buttercup and stop complaining. Instead of being all down and out, think what you can do make the company more profitable. Please continue to question the bad management decisions but also offer constructive solutions too. Greenville is not going to close. It may take a major haircut in employees but the facility will come back and flourish.
Your not making a billion dollars in Greenville with only 15 units. Keep dreaming. All I can say is grab your ankles and kiss your a-- good buy. There booting us out tomorrow.
BS. No way they are going to close Greenville ! It's a billion dollar money maker. Also, It would be way too expensive to close Schenectady. The environmental issues with a plant closure will prevent it from being closed. It may change focus but it will never be closed.
Yea, long live Alstom. Absolutely the WORST thing GE has done in the past 50 years was it's purchase of Alstom! I know this firsthand, my team got rolled into that idiotic mess and are now paying the price.
Good one.
