Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Is US finally safe?

Are we finally safe? Any chance that today's layoffs will take place strictly in Europe? After two days we've just had I think we deserve to be spared.

I'm not sure I can take much more of this, to be completely honest. I'm in my late forties and I know that if I lose this job finding something else will be nearly impossible.

I'm praying we are done.

Unfortunately it is not over. They have to announce a reorg/restructure. Those left won't know more until next week. Somewhere I read it's part of their 5 year plan that began in 2014 or 2015 I believe. However, that could be a false number of years too. I was laid off too and knew it was coming but didn't know it was really coming, to me that is. However, some gut feeling told me to get ahead in case and that's what I did. I had something in the works to take my career in another direction not related to the brutal beverage industry.

Safe? You'll never be safe at this place. Look at how bad this company is getting skewered here, before you know it when you tell someone you work for Pepsi, they'll just assume you're a douchebag and snake hahaha

It was loud and clear to me that Pepsi didn't give a sh-- after the last reorg, double the responsibility, zero promotion despite a great rating. It should be a riot to see what I get out of my focal next week. I guarantee the only reason I'm still around is because I'm part of a huge project. You can bet I'm outta here in a few months so I don't get ambushed once the project is over.

I'm sorry but you are lying to yourself if you ever think you are "safe" while being employed by PepsiCo in any capacity. You have to look out for yourself and get off of Indra's sinking ship.

@-aye - caught that comment too huh? My gut says next is rebadging and we all know that means, work for TaTa or whatever they call themselves or work your way to the door without anything.

It will be "whatever (option) you have figured out for yourself"

Jody's comment "You'll have to figure it out for yourself" could not be any clearer. You are on your own. Stay in a volatile work environment or move on.

This is the new normal for PEP. You are not valued and if eliminating your position can make the numbers look better or allow for your work and $$ to be shifted to Indian outsourcing companies, it will happen without any regard for you or your family.

Correct. And why would they do that? Allow cuts to happen via the employees jumping ship? At least that way they would not have to pay out severance and packages? After those who jump are gone see how many are left. Not enough? Additional cuts. Truly just guessing.....

Not in IT. In IT there will be a constant change as per mngmt.

So IT guys if you don't want to live with constant expectation of worst to happen you'd better update your CV and start looking for the role outside the company.
