Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Team Leader Inventory Management

Last year Sam's got rid of the Audit Team. They wanted less backroom hours and more hours in front of the Members. This year, Team Leaders are given the exact same type of audits the Audit Team did. This means Team Leaders, and whoever helps them, will have more backroom hours and less with the Members and Team Leaders will still have to maintain all they have to do in their areas. Not just the Audits though, all the other reports that the Audit Team worked on as well. This does not make sense. Gisel needs to go, I blame her.

It’s not win win for the company. Investors care about the bottom line. Shrink cuts into that. They are going to want answers when shrink continues to jump more than what paying an audit team cost like it is showing so far.

Costco still employs an audit team and that company will still be around 5 years from now. What confidence do you have that Sam’s will...

Losses are a tax write off for the company. Hurts the club but helps the company. Less profit sharing to pass out, displaces long term experienced managers and long term associates, oops I ment poor performing managers and long term associates that only sit in the office. Win win for the company.

What do they expect, when they have members doing self check, an scan n go. Door greeters are told don’t detain the members let them go. It’s ridiculous that GM’s are being held accountable for this bs. How about Geisel come work at a club for a year, and let’s see how her inventory works out.

Our inventory was so bad the GM had to call Gisele to explain it.

The numbers coming back from early inventories this year are disasterous so far. Clubs that were low shrink are now hitting .60 more than 3x what they were last year. If you think the jobs displaced last year in each club came close to adding up to $250,000-300,000 in additional shrink then those were some highly paid hourlies.

Walmart does not have an audit team and the Deparment Managers do inventory management just fine. WM departments also typically have more SKUs (e.g. sporting goods, celebration/crafts, etc).

Always keep in mind that shrink is part of doing business. I had an executive at another employer tell me once about a business change that even though the change may create a $3mil loss (shrink), the job cuts will save the company $10mil. Case in point, in the end the company is still winning.

Stop thinking the increased shrink will bring the audit team back because you will continue to be disappointed.

What’s there to train for you count and it’s gone #bringbackaudit stop being a tight a-- and pay people there worth. Stop pushing out talent and we will be back on top. With all the negativity lately surprise we aren’t closed up. The members don’t get that happy feeling cause your workers are scared and don’t give a sh--.

As one of the audit members that was displaced....I am dreading inventory. Our club is a circus and I’m 100% sure the team leads don’t have a clue what they are doing-other than the two of us former audit members who are now team leads. I have asked the CM multiple times if I could set up a training course for the other leads to no avail.

So yes, we TL's have to be doing counts and requested audits. I find it as time wasted because they really don't care about shrink. No real training on how to do it. Tying up 3 people to drop out of the steel to count/verify. (if you can find it that is) The C.I.M. is a joke. It's a great tool if everyone did what they were suppose to do. My club does nothing to hold people accountable to make the system work. Soooo I walk the steel looking for something that is not in location. Brilliant!

We don’t check receipts either we don’t want to upset the members. We also give refunds on anything even if 5 yeasts old. Guess we can do this if we keep letting people go, pretty soon it’ll be a free club take what you want!

Sometimes I feel like I work for a circus. There has to be clowns making all these silly rules up. Robin slapping Batman, give them the pickle, treasure hunt, on and on. Back to basics works much better than all this child like stuff.

How about the cartoon she posted on the wire of Batman slapping Robin because in the real video BCook called members customers. Its on her texting section. Might think its funny but with all the violence in the world today it is just inappropriate.

Now watch it disappear.

As a Technology Lead I totally feel it when it comes to shrink. Although getting our required monthly audits done is manageable, its tough when you only realize a certain item is a shrink issue when its already been going on for months. A certain member would take a certain item off the shelf and return it at the desk multiple times, getting a few thousand dollars out of us before we even realized the inventory issue, and the member must win so no questions were asked.

Adding that on top of working reports like CWO, No Movement, Liquidation and RTV every week makes it hard to deal with the day to day issues when you don't have a fully staffed department. And as Tech Lead I have a small department. I can't imagine what its like for others like the GM TL

Well, 63 clubs closed. We do not detail receive anything=shrink. We lost the audit team=shrink. We gained more self check outs=shrink. Scan and Go=shrink. Greeters don't check receipts anymore=shrink. Now, APM eliminated=more shrink. Hell, you don't even need a membership to shop!!!! All offices going away. I think Gisel is doing an amazing job! She is running us into the ground and I guarantee you we won't be around much longer!

This is spot on. They are trying to make one person do the work of 3 and not have any other shrink preventing processes in place. The result is going to be inaccurate and increased numbers at inventory.

When the numbers start hitting this year fingers will start trying to place the blame. It’s going to end up being far more expensive than paying 3 Audit team members and a receiving clerk if that goes next.
