Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

PIP

What happens if I am put on PIP? It was hinted to me that if I don't improve my performance soon, I will be placed on PIP. I'm really not sure what to improve, as all of my reviews were at worst consistently meets rated.

Is it true that PIP equals being fired? There is no way to come out of it on top?

Pip means your manager not happy. When objective is set send email to manger with measurable performance criteria , ask for others performance measures. Keep in mind to negotiate easily achievable target, if not say explicitly to HR you are overloaded.its all about tackling your mgr.

PIP is the way to lay off people without a severance package and without having to do a WARN.

You’re in denial if you don’t know what to improve. Hopefully you’ll be laid-off instead of fired. Although, if you’re a short term employee with a lower title, the “standard” resign-so-we-don’t-have-to-fire-you package (3 months pay & insurance) might be better than a lay-off package. You might negotiate that to four months.

Being on a PIP and not knowing what to improve is not a good sign. If you were actually motivated, you would be asking your supervisor others around you for advice on how to improve. Your review is generally based on the feedback from those who work directly with you. Apparently they aren’t too impressed with your work.
