Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

2nd quarter lay offs

Folks that will be left after March 9th will face another “unplanned” lay off. You have time to prepare now. None of the members that were referred by PHC’s need HCM-RN’s so they are being graduated to monitored status. Plus, so many HCM’s are quitting because there’s no job security.

Take care of us like send us to Belize? Take care of us like provide us with job security through retirement? (Okay, I know, I know, that one is a pipe dream).

Or take care of us like Oprah shouting “you get a severance package! You get a severance package! Everyone gets severance!”

I guess we need to stay tuned.

Just moving more members to monitored and my roster continues to shrink. We will get an increase when the affected employees are gone March 9 but after that were will all the new members come from?

Had anyone that was an HCM and was layed off found a different positition within HAH?

If they are, below poster, then that’s what they have been tasked to do. That doesn’t mean they can’t lead us in the interim, or that they can’t improve HAH along the way.

@1mpu-great post, can you explain how the current model fits in with the home health directon, and, when going into that arena, it appears staffing will need to be the same if not more for the projected telephonic support by the end of the year....will telephonic support be for those in areas kindred is not geographically in, or for those that don’t want face to face?

No, common sense does not tell you more lay offs are coming. The lay offs that occurred were necessary to whittle down the number of associates of a bloated, nonfunctional program that was no longer making the money it did in years past. All programs within HAH went through the same process, you just didn't notice because you don't understand the big picture and how all of healthcare is transforming. Yes, it stinks that people had to be let go but there were way more associates than were needed for the new direction of the revamped program. You really should try to listen when leadership explains where we're headed. They really are being truthful, give them a chance.

Well if more nurses quit then maybe not as many nurses will be layed off. Common sense tells you more layoffs are coming.

Well judging by the skeptical responses on here, it is evident that not much fear was mongered.

Mission failed, OP.

The OP doesn't have a source. Just the usual fear mongering. I am hearing no such talk from the COM above me.

OP, your statement makes no sense...if CMs are quitting Because of lack of job security, what does that have to do with layoffs? The add on part to your posting about the CMs quitting seems to invalidate your whole posting

The members that came to me from PHC’s were intentionally moved up due to cba and recent health changes / needs. The ones that Phc’s didn’t move up went to MON. So I don’t buy the idea that zero members from PHC’s need RNs. I always appreciate the info everyone shares OP, but this seems off the mark - are you sure?

I disagree, OP, where is your info from? Pretty generalized state that NONE of the PHC folks need to be managed, they just didn’t have time to move them all...and if this is another layoff, will the CHEs and hcmss be impacted, too?

I received 2 new members just today. Some of my members take a lot of my time with multiple support calls. I don't think I have PHC transferred members. One day at a time for me. I know that nothing is written in stone here at HAH.

All they have to do is press a couple buttons and the computer will show the CBA scores on members and you can tell from that. This is not rocket science. This is an insurance company that uses numbers to drive their company. Please don’t be so naïve

I don’t doubt layoffs are coming again, but that’s a little soon. We have not received many PHC members at all on my team, so it is concerning since we have so many going to monitored and none coming in to take their place.

OP the timeline seems off. How could they have assessed our reassigned members’ needs already? We just got these ex-PHC members.

Is your source just guessing? Q2 seems too soon to make a call heavily based on this group of members. Some do have needs we can assist with.

How reliable is your source? How many HCM-RN's? What date can we expect?

I definitely have PHC reassignments that need an RN. How would they have decided this so quickly? I appreciate you posting OP, but I am skeptical. Perhaps your source is misinformed?

How would they get from “no planned layoffs” to 2nd q layoffs within 2 weeks. This doesn’t make sense. It would take longer to evaluate the numbers, no?
