If State Farm is about to lay off thousands of people, why in the world are we still actively hiring?
There are new job postings from literally within the last 24 hours. And I am not talking only one or two, there are plenty to choose from.
What is the point, then? Why aren't these at least offered to people who are about to be shown the door?
A lot of eloquent comments on this thread. I plan to keep following. It just goes to show that State Farm has really done some great employees wrong.
My cousin just took a job in Agency call center to hire “new” people beginning in March. She is not the sharpest stick but she didn’t even know all of this was going on.
I just checked, there is a ton of reqs that have been withdrawn or will never be filled.
I guess things are slow to be removed
Why not offshore for 10k? That sounds like big business model. It is discrimination..of course big business pays off EEOC...too many swamps.
I worked for state Farm 18 years before I retired went through several reorganizations. They started at the top with cuts. Giving employees a chance to early retire or take other positions. They took care of me an still do with the benifets.
Many of the jobs posted are for positions that have already been gutted. People applying are just reapplying to fill a drastically reduced number of positions for the job they currently hold.

The jobs that are out there now, in claims, are the postings that the 3000+ claims employess are supposed to fight over along with the drastically reduced numbers in the larger metro areas. The problem is, no one wants to live in many of these places. So, people like me that are over 50 and yet can't retire, will be the ones that grasp onto these positions, hoping to earn 5-10 more years of pension.

It's all for show. Lots of companies are pulling that stunt these days. There is a concerted effort by big corporations and govt to show the public that "All is well!" and one of the ways they do that is by making it seem like jobs are plentiful.
Try applying for those jobs, as people I know have, and what you'll find is the process takes months, like 3-6 months of run arounds and delays, ending in nothing. I know it's hard to believe corporations would do this, but these are strange days indeed.
Why pay a 50 year old 100k when you can get a 25 year old for 40k?
