Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Much more than 3,000

Anybody else here believes the final number will be much higher than the announced 3,000? It certainly wouldn't be the first time the announced or reported number and what really happened didn't match.

At this point, I've come to expect something like that from State Farm.

I searched the Illinois WARN Reports and do not find SF listed as reporting a mass layoff (250 or more ) impacted. Is there a loophole to the reporting requirements?

The 3000 is just in the IT space. Doesn’t include areas like Ad Services and L&D and others

Does this 3000 effected includes proximity trainers and reinspectors?

I think the number will certainly be higher than 3000. This is just where they want to start the latest reorg. What a lot of people are missing is that the proximity job description has changed to include climbing 2 story and steep roofs, as well as rope & harness training. I know a lot of people that won't/can't do that & they will eventually be let go as they can't fulfill the essential functions of the job. The company hasn't replaced anyone in a long time so I don't imagine they will start now. And the best part is they won't have to pay them a severance.
