Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Can't help but comment! only experience can speak to WS, Everything I've read is dead nuts on. Cool thing is the front line managers are so good at being professional liars. Their daily actions for the last several months have been totally transparent. Saw this, 3 layoffs+? or more ago. Have to admire their teamwork speak. Or is that the noise of a brave captain on the TITANIC.

The Rochester PAETEC office is not closed yet. The 3rd floor was emptied last summer. The second floor is in the process of being emptied now. Target date is the end of March. The first floor is still occupied. Mostly by IT folks plus the data center is there. The lease expires in 2021. They want the data center out and all systems moved to Conway by either the end of this year or the end of next year. I hear both dates used so I'm not sure which is correct.

in rochester they closed the original paetec office. the lease was up. the erc and some it was still in the building. they have shuffled people around to move erc and customer service into one building. while the elink building is now housing service delivery and access org workers.

Right. Was laid off in Jan round. Got a new higher paying job before my last day of 2/1. WS basically paid me a huge bonus to go to a much better environment. Im no longer customer facing and have full creative control of entire network architecture of my company.

After reading the posts and responses, I am glad I am no longer working at windstream and consider myself lucky to have gotten let go last fall. ( even though it is never fun to suddenly find yourself without a job.) Good severance package and fortunate to have landed elsewhere. Good luck to all who remain with Windstream.

Right - I thought the severance was good for 1 year... I figure most of the layoffs will start following now since they will save a few bucks with the crappier package.

No point jumping ship without a better offer. My area has had a few companies do mass layoffs.. so competition is still a little high.. I won't make the mistake of jumping to another burning ship just for a nice offer.

And Tony Thomas is doing what any CEO would do with a failing company... put lip stick on it and sell it. Push out your mature debt, make the numbers look promising, and SELL QUICK. He's not even the slimiest CEO I've had to listen to... They are all full of sh!t.. you just have to squeeze em a little to see it pop out the mouth and eyes.

I’d run this company in the ground for far less than they give Tony, and quicker. It doesn’t take a lot of insight to fail. You don’t have to be smart to destroy. You really don’t have to do much other than get everyone on board with your plan. That takes a smooth talking snake. David Koresh was no different. Had his followers too. Quit taking Tony at face value, rush the castle and make him see he is a dumba$$.

Legal day 1 was a year ago today. The obligations to any legacy EarthLink employees is gone, you would now vet the standard w/s package. They are also closing a paetec office in Rochester today. I am not sure if they laid off that office or moved people around?
